Kandagawa Jet Girls is a joke in the same way that Senran Kagura and The Bad Touch song that I quoted at the top is: it relishes in being brazen to the point that it knows it's going to draw some eye rolls. It also knows that many of its fans will enjoy both the brazenness and the eye rolls from the puritans - it's edgy like that. But, really, it's great. It's an excellent blend of "kart" racer and jetski playground, and it is built with a level of precision and eye for detail that I think will surprise and impress many. In other words, it is yet another hit of the kind of breezily entertaining experience that, like so much of Takaki Kenichiro's work, deserves more respect than it's going to get.
Kandagawa Jet Girls is a good jetski racing game. We’re not really the target audience for the overtly sexualised schoolgirls though, but if you are you’re well catered for. Add 10% if it rings your bell. Anyone else, hit start and get straight to racing.
this game is perfect because its exactly what we needed
this game is brilliant with a lot of contents to enjoy
mini games , costumes , editing your jet with a lot of things and effects
every team has seperate campaigns with its own story
if you enjoy yuri or bishoujo or shoujo ai so this game or anime is for you
Much of Kandagawa Jet Girls is done incredibly well. The gameplay is varied and interesting, allowing the player to explore how to best approach races and competition, while also offering fun and upbeat music and visuals along the way. It's all strung together by a well-defined aesthetic, from the menus to the loading screens and the UI. What cannot be forgotten — and what takes away the most from this game — is the obsession with these teen girls' bodies in the design. It's cheap and gross, and it completely detracts from the experience. While the races sometimes become bland with ease, the most glaring point that I took away from the experience is how girls' bodies are depicted and designed in media. When it comes down to it, you can make a game that knocks it out of the park in every way, but if you can't show your teen characters without highlighting their massive cleavage or design them without massive breasts in the first place, then frankly, it's not a respectable product that should be taken seriously, and therefore it isn't good.
I can’t help but think that Kandagawa Jet Girls is a rather half-baked attempt at a new media franchise to please Senran Kagura fans. With a more prudish approach to the looks and the game, the possible audience might even be wider than before but that would require a great game as an incentive. Beneath their lewd surface, Senran Kagura games were excellent third-person action games. Unfortunately, Kandagawa Jet Girls is a mediocre racing game at best as it fails in the essentials of the genre. It simply lacks the speed, the excitement, and the challenge to make it to the top.
Kandagawa Jet Girls is not a good racing game, it’s not even a good fanservice game. Nothing from the developer’s previous works can be found here, and we are left with a dull and uninteresting experience. The quality animations and unlockable content can’t save this game, which makes me wonder why it was localized at all.
Kandagawa Jet Girls delights with its boisterous, glowing presentation, cast of vibrant characters, and array of fun side-attractions. But the jet-ski action itself is mostly dull, struggling to offer a decent challenge or a genuine sense of speed. Jet Girls rides waves of goodwill thanks to its infectious personality, but this eventually gives way to tepid, monotonous gameplay, hampering what could have been one of Marvelous' best releases yet.
It’s a real shame that even though the game looks so bright and colorful the whole package is just incredibly dull. With only a handful of game modes, a bland story, and no local co-op mode to spice things up a bit, it’s not going to take you long to tire of this. Even if you’re a fan of the anime it’s probably better to give this one a miss.
the game play is great! pretty damn fun,
Lots of fun and the game looks good.
Got a few of my buddys to buy it and they are all loving it.
Great racing game.
Knowing that this game was launched as a sub product of the anime with the same name I did not have great expectations and I was therefore not disappointed (also I bought it in Sale).
It delivers what you would expect: a funny and easy jet sky racing game with some shooting mechanics, charismatic and archetypical Waifus with impossible bodies and awesome Japanese voice acting (Lynn!)
The usage of the unity engine is superb on the Waifus, they look way better than on the Senran Kagura series and the circuits are full of vivid colours.
On the negative side there are some V-sync issues, low res textures and the velocity sensation could be better.
The number of circuits and their variations are sufficient, also the different story arcs are ok although I missed more anime fragments (only the intro).
I see 2 main issues with this game, the first is small: the fanservice level is quite disappointing in comparison with the Senran Kagura franchise and the anime itself. Replacing the clothing destruction system with energy shields makes no sense lore wise and feels really strange. No idea if this has something to do with the shameful Sony's censorship.
The second one is more serious as it affects the gameplay, the difficulty level is too low making the shooting mechanics almost useless as you will almost not see your rivals during the 95% of the races. On a brawler like a Senran overall difficulty it's not so important as you can still use all your movements/combos/specials but on a race it's really different
I strongly recommend to not upgrade your jet ski at all until you reach a peak of difficulty in which you can not progress anymore and only then spend your credits on improvements. otherwise you're only going to see your opponents on the cutscenes.
I nevertheless recommend this game, it's very enjoyable has really funny moments and it's quite relaxing (also has a very easy plat).
It's a pretty average racing game, but seriously, what is it with these games that have 4 reviews that are considered the best of all time on the list? It literally says it has a perfect 10. That is the first time that has happened in metacritic history, as far as I'm concerned. Mario Kart instead.
i initially bought the game hoping to get around the same level of "quality" fan service from the senran kagura franchise since its from the same creators, but quickly realized that that will not be the case. i looked past that and focused on the gameplay but even that felt clunky 80 percent of the time until you upgraded your jet ski. and only then the controls would feel manageable. each race barely felt like they were challenging you, i don't think there was any level where i didn't place 1st. the story has 7 pairs of girls with somewhere around 10 races each that's over 70 races to go through that all feel almost exactly the same with only a slight change of rampsobstacles that change position. the only thing that could bring you back to play is some basic time attack races and multiplayer if you want to keep grinding for upgrade points.
as for DLC there are 4 pairs of girls from the Senran kagura series as guest characters for $10 each or $30 as a bundle. as much of a fan i am of the series i just don't think the price is justified for the quality and content of the game .
