The land of Benerio was once a shining kingdom by the sea. Then an iron-fisted conqueror, Ludivictus, set the world on fire and redrew the maps. Now Benerio is one downtrodden province in a crumbling Empire where the only true master is corruption.

Enter Eden, a charming mercenary captain forced to become a rebel commander when his village is thrust headfirst into war. Now Eden must rally his allies and stand tall against an imperial army, fearsome monsters, and enemies within.

Lost Eidolons is a turn-based tactical RPG with a gripping cinematic narrative, set in a waning empire riven by civil war. Take on the role of a charming mercenary captain, Eden, and lead his band of allies through epic encounters on a classic turn-based battlefield.

I didn’t have high expectations from Lost Eidolons, which is why I’m pleasantly surprised and can’t wait to see what’s coming next from Ocean Drive Studio. Despite the fact that it starts very slow, there’s a lot of enjoyable content hidden under the guise of a standard turn-based strategy game. If you love the Fire Emblem series or just looking for an XCOM-style strategy game, Lost Eidolons is well worth your time. With a little additional polish when it comes to presentation and more weapons/armor variety, I think this could have been close to a masterpiece.

The star of Lost Eidolons is the combat system, bringing together a lot of things and managing to make them enjoyable and complex at the same time. While there are minor issues such as the stiff facial animations and the choking Turn Limit, Lost Eidolons is still a great title to sink our gaming hours into. Even if you're not a fan of tactical turn-based RPG games, you should try this game out.

It's hard not to respect and get swept up in the ambition of Lost Eidolons, where even the flaws and mediocre presentation is made worthwhile with some competent, classic SRPG gameplay.

Lost Eidolons is a tactical RPG that takes time to become attached to. However, once you start to get the swing of things you may just become hooked.

Despite its shortcomings, I ended up liking Lost Eidolons. It’s an indie title that aspires to be a big budget epic, whose worst qualities are more than compensated for by a strong story and inventive — sometimes brilliant — gameplay mechanics. As the old saying goes: don’t judge a game by its characters’ lifeless, blank stares.

A traditional SRPG which strategy and tactics are its key. It seems like the game deliberately chose the serious, heavy vibe over flashy visual. The game's graphic based on reality is surely a different, charming point among other anime-style SRPGs out there. However, that kind of seriousness can make someone to feel the game is too heavy, difficult to immerse in most characters or the story itself is too monotonous.

The characters form the heart of Lost Eidolons, but a whole slew of grating and annoying issues makes this a run-of-the-mill tactical role-playing game.

It is a bit more bloody but make sense because it looks to be more realistic. May not be the most cinematically impressive but it's different from all the pixelated tactics games that's hit the market and it still hits all the feels with great dialogue and VO. Expand

The tactical turn-based battles are great as is the dialogue and voice overs. Sound is decent as well. The character models are very well done and each character looks amazing. There are storyboard like cutscenes which do a good job of presenting parts of the story and the in engine cutscenes while a bit stiff are still well done. There is a fair amount of plot which follows through each battle which is nice to see in a game like this. The only issue is when you see women in full plate armour beating up male soldiers on the battlefield. This really breaks the immersion and borders on ridiculous in a medieval setting. Luckily its not all the time. All in all, this is a pretty cool title with good production values. Expand

Then out of combat, you have to do an hour of tedious fetch quests and listening to everyone babble on about nothing if you want to unlock extra characters and get stuff.
