"Normandy Crash Site," the DLC for Mass Effect 2, is a delightful little piece of nostalgia. While it may be on the shorter side, it still manages to evoke a sense of fond memories and offers a worthwhile experience.
The highlight of this DLC is undoubtedly the opportunity to revisit the crash site of the original Normandy SR-1. For Mass Effect fans, it's a heartwarming journey down memory lane, bringing back emotions tied to the beloved ship and its crew.
One downside of "Normandy Crash Site" is its brevity. As a result, some players may find it disappointingly short. However, the nostalgic value it holds still makes it an alright addition to the Mass Effect 2 universe.
The Normandy Crash Site adds around half an hour of exploration in Mass Effect 2, where the player can revisit the scene of the fallen Normandy SR1. There is only one assignment once landed at the crash site. The deceased crew's Dog Tags must be recovered so they can be sent back to the families of the unfortunate victims. Also a memorial stature needs to be placed somewhere in the crash site area, it is up to the player where the location may be. The aim of the content is more nostalgia for fans of the series who have played Mass Effect 1, when certain parts of the ship are explored, flashbacks of the Normandy in it's working state flash through the players mind, showing the crew as they were, on the first game. There is no combat to speak of, but several Dog Tags do need to be found by exploding crates and shrapnel around the area. Overall it is a welcomed edition that creates a form of closure with the ship. The content is obviously only meaningful for those who have played Mass Effect 1, otherwise the nostalgia just won't be there and the player will surely not feel any emotion which was obviously intended due to the ambiance of the crash site. Since the content is free, it's impossible to criticise it's length, but it would have been nice to have been given more assignments tied with the ship, such as recovering parts and exploring it a bit more thoroughly.
Can't believe they just made a 20 minute dlc. What's wrong with these people? This should have been in the game from the start. Seeing the crashed Normandy was very emotional, but still this should have been already a part of the game from the beginning. Pickens doesn't know what to say.
I was expecting something more along the lines of Return to Ostagar with party banter on what happened. Mainly from Tali and Garrus. I got none of that. While it was nice to see the old Normandy, it fell far below my expectations.
