After logging in a ton of hours on the game, I can say it blows away previous games.
It has all of the same ingredients that made the earlier releases so popular, but the excitement is gone, and what once felt new and energetic is now old and tired.
It's a predictable, run-of-the-mill RPG with a plain vanilla story. The new graphics engine does, however, add some flair to the game's legacy.
An average design effort that suffers from rushed production (the "save game" screen is primarily made up of huge blocky text and boxes) and a flawed engine.
The extremely behind-the-times graphics, frustrating interface and game mechanics, and lackluster plot all lead to a gaming experience that's more tedium than it's worth.
I lack words to properly describe my disgust with this game. This game looks like somebody made the developers design it at gunpoint.
