It's quite short, but the over the top action and humour of the franchise will surely pay out.

Gat Out of Hell is a comedic romp through myth, literature and video game tropes. The writing is smart, the gunplay is solid, and the city of Hell is a blast to fly though. Some may miss the more traditional mission design or lament its brevity, but Gat Out of Hell is a great way to cap off the story of the Third Street Saints.

The newest DLC for Saints Row 4 is also the most disappointing one. The setting is really cool, but it seems like the developers did not know how to use it for their typical Saints humor. There are fewer gags than in the previous DLCs and they are not as good. Only in a few moments does Gat out of Hell get funny. The design of the missions is also pretty lame. Even main missions are nothing but side-quests which are already known from its predecessors. Fans of the Saints will have some fun, but overall the game is too expensive for its content.

Saints Row: Gat Out of Hell is proof that Volition's bag of tricks needs a dramatic overhaul or even an exchange for something completely different. And I mean both the technical, and gameplay side of things. The new Saints Row is still a perfectly playable, very enjoyable game but it emphasizes many weak points of this gangster saga (that slowly starts to eat its own tail).

Saints Row: Gat out of Hell supplies more Saints Row IV gameplay but in a new setting backed by an amusing, if short, story. It’s just a shame that its made up of a collection of side content that doesn’t offer the stupid creativity that made up so many moments in the last two Saints Row games.

This expansion of Saint's Row 4 is a bit lazy. The upbeat psychotic humor that we love in this franchise is what keeps Gat Out Of Hell a fun game to play, but the game is too slender to really be a stand-alone game.

Expansion packs should expand, damn it, not reduce. Jokes and dialogues are not funny in Gat out of Hell, satire is off the mark, visuals are ugly, gameplay is crude and the city uninteresting. [03/2014, p.64]

BUT IS A GREAT DLC! What did you expect a 15 hour long humerous story. Well that is no where to be found around here. What you do get is a reskin of SRIV. Sure there may be a new "demon" faction, new weapons, cars, and abilitys, but there is not enough. However I will say that this is a completionist's heaven.10/10 Expand

Saints going to hell to save the boss? Hell yeah! The gameplay was a tad repetitive, but that's nothing new, the story was funny, they've introducted some new characters + some old faces appeared as well. This game was fun and I'll remember it for the cool endings. Pickens approves! Expand

That is fine given that it's an "expand-alone", but unless you are short on games to play or haven't played Saints Row IV, you're not missing much. There is no character or vehicle customisation but that's fine for a game like this. There's still plenty of side missions and excuses for blowing things up, flying around and collecting orbs, hurtling a ragdoll into traffic and so on, as well as the typical RPG elements for upgrading your character's abilities and weapons. But when it comes down to it, the game's main story is extremely short. There are lots of side activities but these get repetitive and chances are you're not going to get to use all of the 7 new "Deadly Sin" weapons without completing a substantial amount of them. I finished the story at 84% total game completion and still had 3 or 4 of these weapons unobtained. There's also no music in this game, if you're into soundtracks.

Don't get me wrong, the content that's there is still on par. The comical value, whacky characters and story do entertain, it's just a shame that there's not more of it. I'd rather have had a longer story and fewer side activities. Still worth playing if you liked Saints Row IV but only if you get it very cheap.

There are only two fixedIf player customization is one of the features that you liked about this series so far, you should avoid this game. There are only two fixed protagonists that the game allows you to play as, and you can't customize their outfits or anything else at all. Apart from that, this game mostly recycles content from the previous installment, even the graphics pretty much are the same. This game doesn't cost as much as other titles, but it is still too expensive for pretty much being a DLC sold as an own game. You should wait for a discount if you're still interested in playing this game. Expand
