Hi Rez studios has a game changer on their hands here. SMITE is an incredibly fun and addicting MOBA that is perfect for those who are looking from a change of pace from your typical MOBA.

Smite is an excellent addition to an expanding genre, and one that distinguishes itself from the rest of the pack with decidedly different gameplay, a quirky and lighthearted take on classic mythology, and a variety of interesting modes.

The product of Hi Rez Studios is well made, and offers different feelings from those of its competitors, thanks to the different camera angle and a fast paced gameplay.

Smite is invigorating. It’s not another MOBA. It takes one aspect of a MOBA’s structure and builds on it until it's something else entirely. Smite has developed into an action game. One with lanes, creeps and towers, all the things you’d expect from a MOBA, but even the familiar looks different when viewed from Smite’s refreshing perspective.

A different camera angle along with great e-sport support can't hide the fact that this has been done before, with better result.

Unlike other new mobas coming out, HiRez tries to do something different by changing it to a third person view and have you aim everything, even your basic attack.

Another thing that is great is that it has several game modes that are actually played (unlike Domination in LoL). I hope to see the professional scene rises for Smite and to see this game rise pass LoL and DotA.

However, being as I am writing a review, I'm only going to give it 9/10 for gameplay, sound, graphics, and animation. It is missing that 1 because of poor mechanics and character balancing.
My major problem is that I am a mac user and as happy I am that Smite does allow us to play, it is sad how much I lag and cannot turn my graphics up to see the beauty therein.

Then started playing IC and really enjoyed that due to the subject matter and really got into the game, not great at it but learning. Thought that would be it for me moving forward till I played Smite.

Great game, very playable, nice character design and lots of good game options. Free to play with a few champions but you can buy all the gods for £20!

The one downside of all the MOBAs I have played, the idiots who play them. So far only met a couple of really foul individuals but its the internet right! If you are looking for what feels like a more action orientated MOBA then this is it.

Playing Heroes of Newerth from closed Beta, Dota 2 and occasionally LoL, I can say I have quite a lot of experience with MOBA's.
But never did I have this much fun on a MOBA before...

    Gameplay
Probably the most important thing of a MOBA, besides good looking/catchy gods.
Movement and combat feel natural, as does skill placement.
Sometimes it can be very hard to land a certain skill or spell, but when you do... It feels just AWESOME!

I also quite like the fact that you move slower when go sideways or backward, this adds more depth to the game, because you actually have to think how you move your character!

If we talk about items, they are well balanced and versatile, yet it's simple to understand what they do.
The only thing that's nagging me is: you CAN't sell 'active' items, which instantly makes no-one use them before late game.

    What about the game modes?
Some are really cool, others suck. I think it's good that they have these different game modes, eventually it's your choice what you like to play!

    Graphics
Lets be honest: most gods look really, really cool! As do there skills/spells and attack animations.
But of course there are some gods that look really lame.

Map wise they made it come to life, it looks like a battleground worthy of the gods.
But again, some maps are cool others are not. It depends on your preference.

    Conclusion
Overall this game is fun to play and has an OK community, especially when considering this game is a MOBA. It has a nice skill cap with many different gods, some easy, others hard to master.
The different game modes are fun to play, I personally like to switch them up once in a while.

Gods are pretty balanced, but can easily get out of control when running away with kills early on.
They look good, feel good as do their skills/spells.

The overall control over your god feels a lot better than in a standard MOBA!

    This game deserves a 8/10.

Long waits for a game and its very rare to have a close game you either win really easily or get smashed.
If the game had a better matchmacking system and more of a player base the game would be less frustrating. Games are over too quick or you spend ages getting beaten badly and no one wants to surrender. Normally the guys that have overfed the opposition.
Theres better MOBAs out there I'd strongly recommend going for lol or dota. Give this one a miss
