I can’t say The Swords of Ditto is a flawless experience. But I can say that the combat, progression, aesthetic, and couch co-op combine to create something wholly unique and engaging.
Despite a repetitive level-design and an obvious lack of a proper scenario, The Sword of Ditto is both lovely to watch and to listen to. Nicely paced and crafted, it’s even better when played in coop.
Perfect! Swords of Ditto is kinda hard in the beginning, but it gets easier and easier with time. The game wants you to learn as you play. Just like our lives, Ditto is beautiful, frustrating, captivating and wonderful. Highly recommended.
The game is cute, but surprisingly difficult! If you're on the fence, I highly recommend it. The game controls very well and the "toys" you unlock are super fun to use. However, be aware that this game is considered a "roguelike" meaning it has permadeath mechanics. I was pretty frustrated at first when starting out because of this, but once you start to understand how the game works, you'll love it.
The Swords of Ditto is a great little indie adventure, perfect for quick stints of surprisingly tense gameplay. Although some slight technical issues are a bit of a pain, they're not enough to detract from what is otherwise a delightfully charming experience. Tight and tidy, this is an addictive time sink that's well worth a look -- especially if you bring someone along for the ride.
The Swords of Ditto delivers an accessible rogue-like experience served by beautiful artistic direction, and a soft difficulty curve quite rare for the genre. Thanks to a shared experience system, death is no longer tragic, but fans of rogue-likes will certainly find the adventure quite simple, mostly because of a basic combat system and too many random dungeons.
The Swords of Ditto combines some great visuals and decent gameplay with overly long and slightly tedious dungeon exploration. The lack of anything truly rewarding carrying over makes those long sessions difficult to stomach.
This game isn't for everyone, and the mixed score should say that much. But it is a charming, delightful Legend of Zelda-esque roguelite that offers dozens of hours of play. The graphics are cute and captivating, the music is video game-y in a way that not much video game music is nowadays, the combat has wake, and the randomly generated map every run adds weight to the 'once every 100 years' storyline.
It has its issues - a bit buggy here and there, the world generation isn't quite as varied as you would like, but it's overall extremely high quality for an indie game. It's genuinely wondrous to explore, and by the time you're on your second or third run, you'll be deeply invested in the world of Swords of Ditto. I bought this game on sale for 7.50 a few days ago, and I haven't put it down since - and it's been a LONG time since an indie game has been able to say that of me. I highly recommend it to anybody looking for a charming, nostalgic roguelite, especially if it's on sale.
An entertaining game with a familiar pace. A Zelda clone that isn't bad with a beautiful art style and a similar 'end of the world' countdown Majora's Mask had attained. The game can be a little bit repetitive and doesn't really attain anything new or something that will make it stand out. A unique twist in the game, a nice story and a world of beautiful art styles that can make anyone go 'awwww'.
Great Art, Music and style. Terrible terrible game loop. This game shows how great artists and game makers can do when making a bad concept mechically, the game designer or designers should have played tested this game loop before releasing.
I was so excited to play this when it first came out, but then fell off it straight away. It turns fun progress into tedious grinding with little feedback, incentive, story law, discovery that makes you feel like you want to continue any time you die.
DO NOT PLAY THIS GAME
