Created by Double Fine's lead animator, Tasha Harris, the game follows the adventure of a group of young friends who must rid their neighborhood of monsters using only their wits, their bravery, and their home-made costumes. Players go door-to-door collecting candy, points, cards, battle stamps and quest assignments as they prepare themselves for Combat Mode-where they transform into larger-than-life versions of their costumes. Each costume that comes-to-life provides its own unique set of superpowers that players will need to battle Halloween’s worst monsters. Expand

So is Costume Quest worth picking up, even if you're not a huge RPG fan? Absolutely. It's great as both an entry point for players that don't have a lot of experience in the genre, and it also serves up a lot of fan for people that aren't really RPG fans to begin with.

Games like Costume Quest are a breath of fresh air in a sea of FPS's and hardcore RPG's. I welcome any more games like this.

The finished game is both fun to play, and wonderfully representative of a time of innocence and adventure. Combined with Double Fine's development sensibilities, it's the perfect combination for success.

If Costume Quest was a full-retail game, we'd recommend it with a few caveats. But seeing as its fifteen bucks, fans of RPGs/Halloween/Neglecting their children should pick it up without hesitation.

Never has a game dealt with the subject of Halloween so charmingly. What ultimately lets Costume Quest down is not its simplicity but its decision to barely skim the surface of its own premise. The game can be bought, downloaded and completed in an afternoon.

It's a great way to relive the nostalgia of your trick or treating days, so you should give it a try, especially if there's a price drop.

Costume Quest is cute and funny, so it may look like a good game for kids. Let me assure you: After completing the adventure (which took me about five hours), I can't recommend Costume Quest to gamers of any age.

The writing is funny, the graphics are cool, and yeah... it does make you feel like a kid again. Good controls and good pacing just add to the positive vibe of the game. One major issue... you can't save whenever. You have to go to a save event. That can be irritating. Overall, great experience. Expand

    Definitely a treat
Costume quest is a turn based rpg where you play as a boy trying to rescue his sister from gobblins that snatched her up, mistaking her for candy while they were trick or treating..
And nearly 10 years later.. this game still holds up…
That’s Right Costume quest has been around for a decade…
This game is absolutely brilliant, bringing me back to the times of Trick or Treat Beat from cartoon network
you go around collecting candy, completing quests to unlock new costumes to kick goblin butt..
your main goal is to ring every doorbell in town, rid it of its candy to move on from section to section…
The qaulity of the gameplay here is a bit like a roller coaster though, with a pretty weak middle act…
but everything that surrounds is great…
Its so addicting trying to find your way around these areas…
The battles here are actually pretty challenging too later on… youll have to carfully balance your team with different costumes and different stamps that add a buff, which are obtained by trading for candy
Though combat does get fairly stale, so im happy that this is just as much of the game as actually exploring is.. theres just the right amount of balance…
there isn’t too much strategy to come up with here.. once you’ve got a good one youre practically unbeatable.. and if you do lose, you can hop back in and try again.. which will happen here and there… theres no use in grinding here…
All in all Costume Quest is a really charming rpg that will fil lyou with nostalgia as youre playing hide and seek with the tons kids and going door to door, hoping a goblin doesn’t answer
    I give Costume Quest
    an 7.5/10

It's VERY boring, there was more cut scenes than gameplay, and a lot of the text is unskippable, making it even more tedious.
