Indivisible is one of the best RPGs of the year. A masterclass in game design, Indivisible is funny, challenging and creative in equal measure. A few difficulty bumps can't take away from what is an almost perfect example of turn-based RPG genius. The production values are through the roof, and the game will have you rapt from beginning to end.
A kickstarter daringly this is not, Indivisible struggled a lot when it came to gathering funds, and despite such a wonderful promising demo , it barely meet the goals that it wanted, and honestly is a little sad. Despite this though, Indivisible still has a lot of heart and hard work put into, and feels like something Lab Zero made with their best efforts. You can see a lot of cut corners when it comes to the amount of backtracking in this game and a lot of the difficulty and pacing in the middle and end suffer from this. It always feels like there is just a little bit more missing from Indivsible, and while they still do a decent job, it certainly would have helped the flow of the game better if there was a little more meat to it. Still, a lot of these nitpicks are something I say as someone that wanted to see this game's full potential, but honestly the game really does surprise me with it's opening act and ending as a whole. The start of Anju's adventure is a messy one, and one that sets up key characters in Anju's adventure amazingly and when the 2nd act hits, it hits hard. I honestly can't tell you how delighted I was to see this story handle Anju's character development and set up for the ending, and it truly remains as the best parts of the game. Not to say the battle mechanic is dull, as a lot of the fun from Indivisible's beginning is figuring out how combos and supers works, and how to extend said combos. Thankfully Indivisible never gets too hard when it comes dealing with it's combat system, but this does tend to come at the price of bosses being kinda push overs when you figure out the system. That's the beauty of Indivisible tho, and with gorgeous art work and sweet music to your ears, Indivisible doesn't lack in the presentation department either. Truly it's a wonder how much this game gets slept on.
I adore Indivisible. I enjoyed all of the characters, I appreciated how the story made Ajna reconcile with her choices, and as a fighting game player I loved the style of combat. Even though some of the hiccups had me muttering unkind words, Indivisible still sits with me as one of my favorites of 2019.
If you’re willing to make the best out of the awkward battles and you love those classic RPG stories that start off small and build into these epic adventures, then you’ll definitely be in for a treat with Indivisible.
Indivisible is a platform game and a no-fuss RPG. Without much depth either, a defect without a doubt for those who hoped to tackle a RGP borrowing a certain complexity. For others, it remains a very nice game, because of its beautiful Japanese cartoon attire, these characters, if they are very charismatic, at least always cute and fun, and its overall dynamism.
It looks good (mostly), and has all the qualities that seem like it would make a great game. Not only does it fail to come together coherently, yet it also it lacks a sense of magic or "heart" that the art style would suggest it possesses. While nothing is largely technically wrong with Indivisible, it fails to be engaging as a RPG, its platforming fails to recommend it on this front, and the story never goes anywhere significant to offer this up either. This isn't bad, but it just isn't that good either.
Indivisible is so pretty. The many mechanics for platforming are super fun especially when you have to quickly swap from one technique to another. The combat is enjoyable as well. Each bottom maps to a character and they each have 3 attacks. The interaction between Ajna and the characters really shows how they grow together. The story is simple to follow so everyone can enjoy it. You should all give it a try. Definitely get the DLC
It's okay. As a fighting game player I don't think they really nailed the fighting game inspirations (which is weird cuz they made Skullgirls) so the combat feels kind of iffy compared to other games like it.
Very good animation and style, but rest is sadly undermines it. Mediocre story, pretty bad written characters and repetitive gameplay turned it into mediocre game. Sadly it's not worth full price.
First off, the positives; This game is absolutely gorgeous and the animations are top notch, as is expected from the same studio that brought us Skullgirls. The dialogue is fine and the voice acting is fairly well done with some good writing and solid humor. Now for the bad; This game is VERY rough around the edges, gameplay wise. EXTREMELY sloppy and inconsistent difficulty curve with save points often found AFTER points of no return which can royally screw up a save file. The combat taken directly from Project X Zone on the NDS is solid, especially for standard battle, but boss fights are EXTREMELY unbalanced and very VERY poorly designed. The final point is how linear the game is. The first 10 hours or so is just round down hallways, solving rudimentary puzzles and tackling platforming with less than stellar controls. Overall this game feels incomplete as if they spent all of their time and effort polishing the graphics and putting little care into the actual gameplay and difficulty curve. Hopefully there are some MAJOR updates, but as it stands, I personally don't think this is a very good game 4/10
