Truly, SEGA’s Ryu Ga Gotoku studio is one of the very few studios that we can rely on to push narrative boundaries and really explore the potential for what video games can offer as a traditional storytelling medium.

A sizeably riotous spin-off to Sega's Yakuza franchise, Judgment combines the series penchant for balancing seriousness and absurdity with a hyper-engaging central protagonist whose deeply charismatic persona freshens the whole affair up massively. Judgment is a toweringly good offering then, and one that we hope leads to its own series with leading man Yagami at the forefront.

Out of all the Yakuza games that I've played, Judgment offers the most amount of fun and variety while also containing a gripping story that'll keep you guessing until the end. I highly recommend it.

Judgment may be linked to Yakuza’s legacy, but it still provides a great reason to explore Kamurocho once again.

A story that is engaging, intriguing yet thoughtfully structured, complete with another grand cast of new characters, even when it risks of becoming too pedestrian, Judgment predominantly finds the means to keep players fixed on the events unfolding. Fans of the Yakuza series may be quick to filter out what’s genuinely new from everything else, but for a game as packed and as entertaining as this, what it may lack in pure originality, Judgment more than makes up for with a game that is as fun to engage with as it is to just sit back and watch as the now-commonly bizarre antics of Kamurocho play out to delightful and convincing effect.

Judgment tinkers with the Yakuza template enough that it provides something for fans, as well as those who have always thought about visiting Kamurocho.

Despite the fantastic story, Judgment stops short of being a must-play thanks to its shallow and unfulfilling crime-solving gameplay.

The game is amazing and you do more harm than good to your cause by discouraging people from getting it with negative user reviews. Expand

The voices are very great. I like the voice-acting and would play more games with the actors voicing characters or narrating or whatnot.

I'm only giving it a 9 because it's nearly impossible to platinum, requiring you to master games that have nothing to do with the main game. After getting a plat in Yakuza 0, Kiwami 1 and 2, I thought this game would be similar, but Puyo puyo made me quit trying, which is frustrating.

The new detective-like activities were a good change of pace and I loved the new protagonist’s character and fighting style.
The framerate on base PS4 could be better though.

Aburrido y lento, muy poca acción en este título, esperaba mucho más de él.
