Here we find two sisters who descend from a long line of expert swordsmen, yet were born to different mothers. The elder sister, Aya, was raised by her father, who subjected her to rigorous training in the way of the blade. Meanwhile, the younger sister, Saki, was raised by her mother, learning to despise her father for abandoning them and taking her sister away. When her father goes missing, Aya decides to put her skills with the sword to use as an Undead-hunter. Upon her beloved mother's murder, Saki becomes consumed to the point of insanity with a desperate thirst for revenge, resorting to manipulating the Undead to achieve her goal.Aya resolves to seek out her younger sister, her only surviving relation, while Saki is determined to resurrect her mother using an ancient art passed down through the ages. This art, however, requires the heart of a blood relative to work, meaning that the younger sister must kill the elder if she is to have her sworn vengeance. And so, amidst a swirling storm of love, hate, and intrigue, the battle between the two sisters begins. Expand

If you love films like Planet Terror, fast-paced, Devil May Cry-inspired combat, and babes in bikinis whose sole purpose is to slaughter as many zombies as possible in the name of revenge, then Onee Chanbara: Origin is a title well worth adding to your PS4 collection. Tamsoft did an incredible job of modernizing these dusty PS2 gems while providing an aesthetically pleasing makeover. While the game may be a bit short, there’s no denying that it’s extremely well crafted and succeeds in delivering an over-the-top, hack-&-slash bonanza of anime-inspired madness.

Main character designer Katsumi Enami breathes new life into the characters, making this silky-smooth 60fps high-speed action game an unmissable treat.

While the story is unremarkable and the gameplay doesn't provide any innovations to the aged formula, I still very much enjoyed my time with OneeChanbara Origin as it still left me with a satisfying feeling even with the short time I spent with it.

Onee Chanbara Origin is a remaster that goes straight to the point, offering frenetic, bloodthirsty gameplay and a punctual and truly entertaining combat system. The technical side is sadly stuck at the origins of the saga, especially the scenarios, which seem to have really come out of a ten-year-old console. The characters, fortunately, have undergone a remarkable restiling and the protagonists show a full-bodied cel-shading and excellent animations, able to give back a sense of majestic violence. Probably the entry price (49 €) is a bit too high for a shamelessly budget product and the incessant action could saturate the souls of those who do not adore the genre in the long run. Considering this, Onee Chanbara Origin gives the videogame player exactly what it promises: maybe it won't be much, but at least it is clear and honest in its contents and intentions.

This is a fun, gore-y hack & slash starring girls with not enough clothes that can be found enjoyable if you’re happy with lower budget games.

Onee Chanbara Origin is what it is: a remake of a couple of simple and repetitive action games that largely rely on titillation and buckets of gore to keep players’ eyes glued to the screen. Dig beneath its shallow exterior, however, and you’ll find a combat system that’s surprisingly rewarding when the camera isn’t working against you. It’s just a shame that there’s not much content to it. It’s hard to recommend Onee Chanbara Origin at its full price unless you’re really keen to hack and slash zombies as a bikini-clad badass. When that price drops a little, though, it’s worth jumping on if action games are your thing.

Oneechanbara Origin rights a lot of wrongs found in the early entries, yet it still feels oddly antiquated. The combat is riotous and entertaining, but the overall experience becomes monotonous after a few hours of play. Plus, it's barebones. With only a campaign and an endless wave survival mode, the game is slim on content, unusual since previous entries offered a lot of bang for their buck. It has a B-movie charm that's hard to resist, but other titles of similar fare have shown its possible to mix titillation with action to make a great time.

Firsty they changed the art from a more realustic if not doll like look to straight up Anime Cell Shading , like Senran Kagura. I much prefered the look of Z2, characters had way more detail, you could see real shin textures. While in orion their skin is a pasty white top to bottom, no small details, even the polygon count seems lower, damn the girls dont even have finger nails..
Second is combat, Z2 had dozens of moves to play with and master, its was the meat of the game, Origons has way way less moves and is much more basic.. Once again like Senran Kagurs. I like Senran Kagura, so I like Origons, but I much preffered Z2, it really felt like the pinacle of the series..
Also on a side not, these japanese games seem to be getting increasingly greedy, they hardly export now , because people will seek out their product, but they are also moving more content to expensive DLC. Its getting a bit ridiculas, Ipart blame western puriton censorship, for not producing the content many clearly want but the way Japanese publishers are taking advantage has to be noticed.
