Rise of The Tomb Raider 20º Anniversary Edition makes its entrance in Sony territory in the most definitive, complete and brilliant way following Lara's Story since we left her escaping from Yamatai. Having all DLC available since the beginning and ignoring some superficial bugs, Crystal Dynamics' new game bring us a perfect experience which everyone will love until the very end. Awesome graphics in 1080p, a very beautiful OST composed by Bobby Tahouri, and new game modes full of puzzles, tombs, secrets and discoveries.
one of the greatest action games out there, from game play to graphics to sound quality everything is AAA about this, as of now 2023, this is the best Tomb Raider game Ever.... it's a 10 for me
What a great sequel to another great game. This game has a beautiful setting, a pretty simple story, yet absolutely enough for what it is and does not need any more answers - except for the obvious question of what happens next in Lara's life and one, two major question that come with the end that surely is answered in the next game, but overall for the normal storyline it is fine as it is. I also liked that my assumption about a certain character was revealed to be true in the end.
The game plays very nicely, though I have the feeling the controls are a little bit less working than in the first game, the atmosphere the game has is just wonderful and Lara is simply "one kickass woman who rocks entirely". I was a bit worried at first that the most obvious natural setting would be shown almost all the time - the snowy one - but I was really glad when I noticed it was a mix. Great snow areas, sunny forest and lake area, a few ruins here and there, definitely superb.
However, it was a bit underwhelming that certain parts just reminded too much of moments that happened in the first game. I do not mind that much in general but this feeling definitely does not need to be this strong for part 3. Also a few battles were a bit frustrating when compared to the others but I can live with that.
All in all a great and recommendable game that was worth for me to wait 3-4 years.
A rock solid game and a lot of extra content - including a VR expansion! - make this the ultimate edition of Rise of the Tom Raider. A must have for every fan of the franchise.
PS4 owners have finally gotten one of the best games of 2015. This version of Rise of the Tomb Raider has been enhanced with add-ons and new game modes and as such is an instant "must have". All the great things about Lara's adventure are still in effect and the only chance to receive a better game of this kind is with the next installment of the series.
Lara's birthday gets celebrated with a ton of content and the latest game on most platforms. The story drags you in immediately and the action keeps you sharp. But the game never blows you away. Still this is a must play if you like adventuring.
Even if you’re not going to end up staying for the story, at least the brutal combat itself will keep you satisfied for hours on end. Stay merciless, Lara.
Actually a 9.5 because i dont think its a perfect game. It did everything the franchise always did but made it all better, Lara Croft always beautiful and great and the story is very engaging. Graphics, gameplay and music are all around great.
I got this when it came out for free on PS Plus this month because I enjoyed the previous Tomb Raider Game. I've played for about 4 hours and I'm not sure I'm going to finish. This is game is incredibly mediocre. Some of the more glaring examples of its mediocrity and general blah-ness --
1) So many cut scenes, mini cut scenes and QTEs...like one every 4 minutes. They don't seem to want you to actual play the game. Seriously every stealth kill is a mini cut scene
2) The combat is just boring, if you "stealth kill" an enemy in front of another enemy, literally if they are standing next to each other, the other enemy won't see you because it was a stealth kill. Even though in the stealth kill cut scene animation he's staring at you while your murder his friend
3) Voice acting is ****
4) Survival/crafting element is tacked on and seems to have no weight on actual game
5) Distances seem arbitrary, Lara Croft can jump what appear to be dozens of feet at a time if it fits the level you are trying to navigate
6) The animals you are supposed to hunt for...reasons...just kinda wander around and don't seem to respond to you in any consistent way **** if they walk next to you and your swing your ice axe you can't hit them for...reasons...I guess
And I nearly forgot, if you shoot generators with a single arrow...they explode
All in all this game just served to remind me how much better Uncharted was and TLOU2 is.
