If you want to explore Ellie's tragic past further, Left Behind is the right place. Naughty Dog nailed how a DLC should be with this tragic and memorable background story.
Left Behind offers the same emotion and intensity as The Last of Us, focusing on Ellie's relationship with Riley. Even so, the unbalanced relation between length and price may induce some players not to buy it.
It may be a little short, but for $15 players get a great story to add onto The Last of Us, and those looking for another reason to jump back into the game have just found it.
The Last of Us: Left Behind doesn't feel as essential as the main game, but that shouldn't detract from the fact that it's a no-brainer for those who loved The Last of Us.
The Last of Us: Left Behind is an extension that continues in the same
vein as the original. The combat system is tight and the production is
impressive. The adventure is however plagued of much padding, and a
story that is more ambitious than actually good. The weaker section of
the two in the series but worth a look if you feel you did not get
enough last time.
First things first: if you came here to complain because Ellie is a lesbian, you are nothing more than a cry baby.
To be honest, I'm not the type that always plays DLCs, but this one everyone should play. They tell us more about Ellie's life, and how she got bit. How she's still just a teenager that dreams about being in a normal word, love and being loved, but unfortunately was born after the chaos. She's a kid that have to be an adult, and it's not fair.
It's a nice DLC but It's honestly very short.
There are some great moments in it, and Ellie's relationship with Riley is very well written.
Also I personally liked how Ellie feels weaker than Joel, so killing enemies is more challenging.
Overall I liked it a lot, but it doesn't really add anything new except from some more backstory to Ellie.
Final Rating: "Good" ~ 7/10.
Thought I would drop in quick and give a quick comment. First off I love The Last of Us. It was an amazing game and I've spent a lot of time in the game. With that said, the $15 I payed for this 2 hour sad fest was very disappointing, if anything this DLC should have been free to $5. Keep in mind when I say this I think most DLC should be around $5 if your only getting 1 or 2 hours of content that may or may have not been ripped from the making of the original game. Anyway, this is not any special insight into Ellie’s background, there is one tiny revelation that is hinted at earlier in the game that is confirmed here. Nothing else, the DLC is filled with bad mini games, along with one specific battle that feel like it was pulled from the original game and shelled off as DLC. The only part I enjoyed was some of the dialogue. I just can't understand how people are OK with paying $15 for this. Don't keep doing this people or content will continue to shrink and have no actual value.
