At its core, Tekken 7 is the ultimate Tekken experience. While paying tribute to previous games in the series, it’s also made for the hardcore Tekken fan in mind. Newcomers will also love it once you get a feel for the unique fight system. There isn’t much I didn’t enjoy with during my time with Tekken 7, other than it makes me want a new Soul Caliber with the same TLC that went into this game. I highly recommend picking up Tekken 7.

Tekken 7 is definitely a big guy. A new engine, new characters, new combat techniques and a lot of new game modes and options. It doesn't have the amount of content found in Injustice 2, but the way the familiar combat system makes you feel so powerful is still unmatched.

Tekken 7 is the first modern fighting game I've played that really seems to maintain the feel of the classics in its entirety. As much fun as the results of the genre's evolution has been, there's always going to be a place in the gaming collective for the classics, and Tekken 7 is fundamentally just that. It's nearly perfect as a core Tekken experience. The only thing that was truly disappointing was the lack of Tekken Ball.

Tekken 7 is not the best entry in the series and lacks some single-player content, but when it comes to offering gorgeous combat against friends and other people online, here it is: the King is back with outstanding battle mechanics and plenty of characters to learn. If you don't prefer Injustice 2, here you have your new main fighting game of the season.

Its diverse roster is packed with a wide range of personalities and fighting styles, bolstered by a raucous attitude that begs to be taken seriously while simultaneously mocking its more peculiar whims in the process. Tekken fans will find their next favorite game--one that's the product of decade's worth of refinement. And while some of this depth will be lost or out of reach for newcomers, there's enough fun to be had outside of hardcore competition to keep players from all walks of gaming thoroughly entertained.

For those hardcore players there’s plenty to enjoy from the deep, rewarding and varied roster of characters, fully featured and seemingly lag-free online modes, as well as the refinements to the core combat that make Tekken 7 the best since Tekken 3.

Tekken 7 has the barebones basics for a good fighter, but it’s missing the trimmings that make it worth recommending over bigger, and cheaper competition.

SeveralI am a massive Tekken fan so I wanted to wait a while before writing my review so any bias I had would have plenty of time to vanish. Several months later and I still feel the same about it as I did on release. It is a fantastic fighting game that I can't put down.

I know many were disappointed with the slight lack in content compared to previous games, but honestly the only thinks missing were modes that nobody used anyways. I can't remember a single time I or anyone else played Survival more than once, or Tekken Force again after beating it 2 or 3 times. I'm mainly into fighting games for the gameplay anyways and how competitive they can get. This is by far one of the smoothest and most balanced entries in the franchise yet. I can see attacks when they come and counter precisely. Taking hits never felt like anyone's fault but my own.

The lack of content I mentioned beforehand didn't personally reduce my enjoyment of the game, but even if it did, the problem is fixed now. The Tekken Bowl update added a new mode, but was a tad bit pricey. Though there have also been tons of updates with free content including customizations pieces so it balances out nicely. With DLC planned all the way through Spring of next year, I'm excited to see what they've got planned. We already have 2 guest characters with their own stages confirmed. One of them has already been revealed to be Geese Howard with his tower stage. With how Namco treated Akuma better than his own game did, I'm certain Geese will make for a fantastic guest character.

The story mode did leave a bit to be desired though. The gameplay was fantastic, and I enjoyed the story-exclusive gimmicks, don't get me wrong. But the plot itself wasn't all that great. They only half-way concluded the Mishima Saga and left several questions lazily answered or not answered at all. Don't even get me started on the character episodes. It definitely has its downsides, but if they aren't enough to lower the high I have on this game, then it's still a 10 in my eyes.

Then it becomes like Super Smash Bros. with just about everybody joining the King of Iron Fist Tournament. Hard to see Dead or Alive 6 being better then this next year. Expand

Tekken 7 is far from an improvement over the last entry in the series. And I am really struggling to think of anything positive to say aboutTekken 7 is far from an improvement over the last entry in the series. And I am really struggling to think of anything positive to say about this game.

A new installement shouldn't have less content than it's predecessor, but sadly that is exactly what we're treated to in Tekken 7. Gone is Team Battle, Ghost Battle, Time Attack and Survival. And gone is Bruce, Wang, Marduk and Lei, together with several other main characters from previous titles.

And don't get me started on their new implement of Rage Arts, which totally ruins the game for me. Instead of an intense moment in the end of a fight when both players are down in life. A button can be pushed to pull off a special move that drains 1/3 of the opponents life bar.

I can't say anything about online play yet, as I haven't been able to play it due to connectivity problems with their servers.

Hopefully in the future they will release new game modes and characters. Have an option to remove Rage Arts and have stable servers. But until then, this game will sadly collect dust in my shelf.

Well, back to Tag Tournament 2 for me.

    Beautiful but disapointing.

The Tekken license was at his nest for Tekken 2 and 3 where the game was really improving itself at each episode.

What I don't like in T7: air combos, dlc, characters and stages.

Air Combos are really annoying. First they are far too long, second they oblige the players to wait for a juggle move (so the battle are reaaaaallly boring) and third the players are always doing the same exact combo. What's the interest here ?

    DLC
Seriously, paying 5$ for a lot of characters even historical characters (characters presnet in all the 6 other episodes). What a robbery.

    Characters
The new characters in this sequel have no real interest

    Stages
The stages are now all small in order to make f**king air combos longer. What a crap. So the guy who starts the air combo at first is winning, the only strategy is winning, even the Counter Attacks and Chickens Attack are not used anymore at high level. Wath the competition videos and you'll see how poor this game has become
