Swords of Legends Online takes your standard MMO and turns it into a visually stunning journey. Though levelling is tedious and there is a steep learning curve, the endgame in SOLO is engaging, and it will remain a staple in my MMO rotation.
Brain dead f***s rate it 0..
Yes it's similar to most mmo out there...
It's one of the most beautiful mmo I have ever seen...
Very polished, no bugs or errors (Europe server)
Best movement in mmo genre...
Good amount of content...
Worth a try definitely...
This game is great surprise. It has all what you expect from modern MMO. It is very stable (no single crash) and polished. I have heard NA server have some issues, but on EU I have 25-38 ping.
+ The game has best tutorials for new players to the genre explaining everything / practice offline
+ Endgame has plenty of content, dungeons (you can go 5-10 folk team, it's scalable, dungeon finder even better than in WoW), fun pvp (mass or arena), guild developing, long story line (even after
reaching max level), crafting, pet system, etc.
+ Works pretty smooth, event on ultra
+Starting from hard dungeons game gets really challenging (currently rarely doable in PuG)
+ Triple jump (I really love it), beautiful character and architecture design, you can even have sword as a mount
+ Daily weekly challenges and events everyday, pretty busy
+ Very casual friendly, but designed the way hardcore players have plenty to do
+ Buy to play, no subscription, no p2w items in the shop. You get a bit premium currency everyday if you click it in the shop.
+ Clear roadmap, raids incomming next month!
- English voice acting needs serious polishing
Sword of Legends Online has so much to offer, but it's sadly gated off by utterly terribly localisation in the text, the cutscenes, voice acting and - worst of all - the UI. If you can get around this and the horribly slow and tedious levelling process, there are a wealth of features to dig into, some that give this one of the better endgames in any MMO, particularly a non-subscription and non-P2W title. With excellent combat, only enhanced as the game progresses, and features like player housing, pets, extra narrative elements like character biographies (somewhat more understandable than the core story) and more, it's worth the grind, even though the grind is atrocious. On balance, for MMO fans who are used to, and can put up with this sort of nonsense.
It's more a 7.5 than a 8 tbh, but since you can only vote using integers I had to round it up.
The game is quite fun and it has a good amount of content and a lot more planned. This is possible mainly because this is the western edition of an already existing Chinese game which had a bunch of years to produce more content for it.
The combat if fluid, there's not p2w elements, and equip is pretty much RNG free. It's really a good theme park mmorpg.
What really brings down the vote is the translation.
Even if I were to ignore the awful english dub (which is also incomplete), the english translation of the dialogues and in game texts looks often machine translated and worst of all it's heavily inconsistent.
For example in one dialogue a girl is called Zongli, then in the next dialogue she becomes Zhongli.
If it were only flavor text and lore being translated badly I wouldn't have cared THAT much, but the real problem is that even key elements of the game are inconsistent.
Let me explain what I mean.
Scenario: you just dropped a new piece of equip and you want to buy a talisman to enchant it. So you go to the talisman shop and read
"Tank mastery: Level of shared healing +XX"
You open your character screen, look at all the stats, and there's literally no "shared healing" stat. There's healing effect and healing upgrade, but nowhere there's "shared healing".
You look at another talisman and read:
"DPS mastery: concentration +XX"
Once again you open your character screen and there's no trace of concentration.
If you were to apply that talisman you would end up discovering it gives perception.
Which is funny because next to that talisman in the shop there's another talisman which explicitly gives perception. It's really a clusterf**k.
It looks good and its not P2W. thats the good point of the game but everything else is just a typical generic MMORPG like the thousands of F2P ones we saw the last 15 years. nothing worthwhile. if its on a heavy discount, you may look for yourself.
390 hours of play : Too repetitive, still a lot of things to review and repair, such as targeting, hitboxes and optimization in pvp zones. Can't wait to see the UE4 overhaul.
Note that this game is already over 3 years old in China.
