-
A fascinating and unique WiiWare game that deserves to stand on its own merits.
-
I really like Toribash, but given that it's a downgraded port of a free game, I'm not sure how to score it. It's a really interesting experience no matter what platform you play it on, but there is no denying that it sucks to pay $10 for game that is arguably better and free of charge on Mac/PC.
-
Toribash can both please and repel the player. On one side, it is very different, technical and strategic; on the other, its control is not good enough, and the game pace, in practice, is slow and not very well carried.
-
Toribash is not fun. It requires too much attention to be fully enjoyable, but spending time with it doesn't automatically means you will get better and better. Not recommendable at all, also because you can still download it for free.
-
Some people have an extreme level of devotion for the game. I do not. I like to have fun and lose myself in excitement, not tweak physics for a half-hour to get a five-second clip of what appears to be two marionettes squabbling.

Official Nintendo Magazine UKPut the time into it and it's rewarding, but it's an uphill battle with very little help. [Sept 2010, p.94]
-
So know that if you're thinking of downloading Toribash and starting from scratch with the game, you're signing up for a long struggle before getting anywhere close to the level of mastery required to create anything impressive -- this isn't a game, it's a couple of lifeless puppets being handed over to you with the question, "Hey, kid, you wanna try?"
