World Conqueror X is a fun and challenging war game that is somewhat marred by a lack of proper tutorials and explanations. Riding out any early frustration will allow you to uncover a worthwhile strategy title that has many hours of content, albeit with not too much variation in gameplay.
World Conqueror X is a hugely rewarding strategy game. It's not as refined or committed to the history of the conflict as the more serious wargame fans would like, but then it manages to depict the truly complex, global conflict in a streamlined, accessible, and, for the most part, authentic manner. I am beyond delighted that the Nintendo Switch has something like this on it.
Anyone who has played strategy on a console knows how hard the genre is to port over. In fact, I'd say it generally fails in every case. World Conqueror X is actually very playable and simple. I have the Android variant of this game and, while it is also great, it suffers from the same microtransaction mentality of nearly all mobile games. I'm happy to say, they have completely obliterated the microtransaction element in the Switch version. Instead, we get to enjoy a game with at least 20 hours of base content, not counting the endless hours of open play.
If you like games like Hearts of Iron or any Paradox titles, I would recommend it. I just wish they had a pay version on tablet so I wouldn't have to deal with the cash grab over there. If you, like me, have played the android version and are wondering if this one is better, it is. Go for it.
I’d recommend playing this in handheld with touch controls and a bit of button controls for the best experience. If you’re a fan of strategy games and want a nice meaty title to play on the go, this is well worth your time. I can’t wait to see what the developer brings to the Switch next.
If you’re looking for a more conventional strategy title to add to your Switch library, World Conqueror X is perfect for you. I think the game works best in handheld mode, as it’s not boasting the most visually appealing style.
It’s not out to break new ground, but with enjoyable strategy gameplay and an appealing board game aesthetic, World Conquerer X is certainly a welcome addition to the Switch’s library. Minimal tutorials and under-explained mechanics make it easy to feel overwhelmed at the outset, but new recruits who stick it out will find plenty of strategic fun in both the bite-sized Scenario missions and globe-spanning madness of Conquest mode. A significant improvement from earlier games on 3DS, and a solid recommendation for war-gamers.
World Conqueror X offers a lot of content for its modest eShop price, and history fans will enjoy playing out a story which sticks as close to real-life as possible. It's not the most welcoming gameplay system, though, so novices may want to look elsewhere.
It's a really nice game. A manual would have been nice because it takes some time and research how things work and what symbols mean. The conqueror mode has a a good zoom function that allows you to zoom out a lot to get a good overview of the world. In the scenario's I would have loved to be able to zoom out a bit more. It's great to be able to play this game without IAP!!
This feels like playing „Historyline: 1914-1918” on the Switch and I love it. What’s missing is a multiplayer Option (online would be great but local can do it too).
Hearts Of Iron IV was taken and made in minimalism for a console. That is a good one, just Switch could be more valuable. The phone versions were like that because it's a phone, where there they could make something more big and interesting. Good, but not what you would like to expect from such a thing.
In the early days I really like round based strategy games like this. I recently bought this game and I have to say the tutorial isnt very sufficient to get in the game. The missions are quite unclear to me in terms of what to achieve, what points to conquer etc. Despite that its very hard to know what all the symbols mean, how you earn money and "gears" to build units, how much damage a unit can deal and how fast/far it can move.
In some missions you are playing with CPU controlled allies which do not really seem to support you. One of them for example captured my only city with a factory so I could not produce units anymore.
Maybe I am too stupid for this game, for me it was a waste of money
