A dark corruption scandal in the heart of the New York City's underworld for charismatic detective John Blacksad!

The 50s, New York City: Joe Dunn, owner of a boxing club, is found dead. Meanwhile, rising star Bobby Yale, due to take to the ring for the most important fight of his career, has mysteriously disappeared. Sonia Dunn, Joe's daughter, takes over the gym and must deal with its financial woes. She hires private detective John Blacksad to investigate Yale's disappearance. This sinister case will take our investigator to the darkest, most dismal depths of New York.

With its anthropomorphic characters and its incredible 1950s feel, BLACKSAD: Under the Skin promises all the eerily dark adventure of a detective novel, just like the eponymous comic book series.

Conduct the investigation in your own way. Make use of your feline senses as you hunt for new clues. Make decisions on behalf of Blacksad and influence the outcome of the case.

Blacksad: Under The Skin is an enjoyable detective game and the gritty noir story is very gripping. You care what happens to your cat-man detective and you’ll want to get to the bottom of the crime. All the other characters in the game are interesting and varied and the fact they are animals makes things a bit more entertaining. But the controls when moving Blacksad are so slow and clunky that they let the game down a tad, ruining the will to explore the world fully.

While there’s a plethora of technical issues, I’m hoping these will eventually get fixed, as aside from the bugs, Blacksad is very well written, contains a ton of twists and turns and takes place in a fantastic 50’s noir backdrop. I admit, Blacksad is generally more interesting because of its anthropomorphic characters, but it surprisingly doesn’t feel out of place or odd once you get sucked into its dark world.

It’s a shame the graphics don’t look as sharp as they should on Xbox One X, but it’s a small issue in an otherwise unique game.

It’s unfortunate that Blacksad: Under the Skin fell prey to these foibles because it offers a story worth seeing to the end, even if a lack of optimization gets in the way. With a little more technical polish, these great characters in a great setting will be able to shine.

Blacksad: Under the Skin is a true adaptation of the comic album series created by Juan Diaz Canales and Juanjo Guarnido but delivers an overall frustrating experience due to technical issues.

It might take a while to find your footing with Blacksad, but that's okay. The characters are charming and the story is interesting as well. Unfortunately the game doesn't control that well and the graphics are disappointing as well.

Blacksad: Under the Skin holds promise, and it makes good on a few ideas. The noir storytelling is appropriately entertaining, and the gameplay manages to hold up, even if it doesn’t strive for much. However, the inconsistent graphics and terrible performance mar what would otherwise be a solid little adventure.

Its a crime scene that takes you on a great adventure that gives you 2 options to play it either the serious way or a more relaxed comedic way where your in for the laughs,to be honest with a few to many bugs that forced me to restart the missions a few times that hopefully will be sorted over time. The investigating aspect of the game is the best part with the strong personnalitys that the caracters have and some hard puzzles to help solve the crimes and very cool clues to keeps the game intriguing. Although you’ll have to do plenty of environment combing for documents and other clues, there’s no inventory. Instead, you’ll be told when you’ve gathered enough info to make at least one new deduction. Set in the 50 's in downtown New York it adds a great vibe and some awesome music to the approximate 10 hours needed to complete the game . There's a few bugs and glitches which should be ironed out in the 1st patch, but this game has a lot of potential, just missed the mark by a little repetitive questioning that relate to the crime and protagonists , enjoyable and fun and something worth looking into for your Xbox One library. Vey unique game to say the least. Expand

This has to be the carelessly made, poorly optimised, ugly game I've played this generation. It's clearly wasn't QA'd properly before launch.

Game crashing bugs, textures not rendering properly, out of sync audio, controls like a PS1 game, lazy puzzles and general waste of a great IP.

Please, if there is another Blacksad game made. Give it to a developer that cares about the work they do.
