You move into your cousin's old apartment, rent-free for the summer. Plus, he'll help you solve your little problem... you've never been on a date in your life!

To get some confidence and meet people, plus earn a little cash, you're tasked with clearing the creatures in "the dunj". Soon you discover weapons you find transform into cuties and they're SINGLE! (What a craaazy coincidence because you also happen to be up for grabs yourself.) But someone's abducting weapons and leaving them damaged in the dungeon! Who could do such a thing? Will you solve the blade-napping mystery? Will you find love? Or, friendship, at least?

Craft gifts for your bae blades and give them when the time is right, whether it's in the dunj or out on the town. After all, a couple that slays together, stays together.

Putting Eric’s handling aside, I had a great time with Boyfriend Dungeon. It’s a low-stress series of engaging dates and the character artwork, voices and music are superb. The combat could be tightened, but bouncing back and forth between the dunj and the attractive cast was exactly the kind of easygoing experience I was wanting, and after rolling credits I’d say that Boyfriend Dungeon’s attempt at genre fusion was a successful one.

Boyfriend Dungeon is an enjoyable genre hybrid with charming characters, it fails however to fulfill its rogue-lite potential.

Boyfriend Dungeon is not a deep, refined or varied game. Yet it offers a mix between dating simulator and dungeon crawler that works, in its own lightness.

The dates are the culmination of this strange, yet endearing and fresh combination between a dating sim and dungeon crawler. The battles and dungeons leave a lot to be desired, but the cheerfulness and fine characters stick with it the most.

The plot and atmosphere is centered around dating and relationships which is pretty cool and rare in games. The downside is the combat loop is a bit basic which is okay for less experienced gamers but can get stale for others. It may not be for everyone but if you enjoy social/dating aspect, then you'll be in for a good time. Expand

The gameplay itself was passable, but again, hampered because of the character choices/motivations/story.

I can't rate this any higher or lower. Sincere effort went behind crafting this game, which should be applauded, but this game just wasn't made for someone like me. I wish best of luck to the game and it's developers, and I hope they find the right audience that would appreciate this game.

Boyfriend Dungeon fails on so many things that it's hard to decide where to start.

As a dungeon crawler, it's dull and repetitive. It's not a roguelike, nor a roguelite. Just an easy and standard dungeon crawler.

As a dating sim, it's limited and awkward at times. The stereotypes presented were poor to say the least. Only two characters were likeable, and even those are not remarkable.

The story is a mess and the technical aspects (music and graphics) are only "acceptable". At least it's a short game, so I could go through it entirely without wasting a lot of time.

Seriously, other studios have done much better on products that target the LGBTQ+ audience. As a game, it fails miserably. It's like a duck that can fly, walk and swim but doesn't do any of those things well.

Making a dungeon crawler and a dating sim in one is a very ambitious idea, but one idea is not enough - you need a good implementation, and, alas, there is none here. Like a dungeon crawler - there are only two (!) dungeons, FOR THE ENTIRE GAME! Yes, they promised to add an update with three more partners and a third dungeon, but even if it were, this is negligible. Dungeons are simple, they have a total of only 3 (!!!) bosses, the simplest enemies, and the most boring mechanics. If there were, let's say, 20 such dungeons per game, then there would be no questions, otherwise ... It's very scarce.

As for the dating part, that one is even worse. Let's be honest - most video game players are straight guys. Well, that's how it is with us gamers. That's the way most of us are. And when I, as such a guy, am given partners to choose from - 4 gay guys, one of whom considers me a beauty (!), One non-binary guy, one cat and only one girl, and so bi and for an open relationship ... Sorry, and who should I romance? For me, relationships, even in games, are serious, and this approach is not at all to my liking. The characters themselves are flat, as are their jokes. I haven't seen such uninteresting characters in games for a long time, especially in visual novels. Although the very idea of romancing your weapon, with which you then go to the dungeon, is a good one but poorly executed.

The only thing I can praise in the game is a pleasant visual style, albeit rustic, but pleasant, and a cool soundtrack, quite atmospheric. Everything else is rubbish, not worth your time. I do not recommend it. Glory to Ukraine!

I am all for inclusivity, but not belonging to a different group, the dialogue was terrible and many times made me feel uncomfortable. There was no ability to just play the game and get past the constant "inclusiveness" being shoved down your throat that may actually isolate the player.

The gameplay itself is very basic roguelite gameplay that brings nothing new or exciting to the table. At this time I can I wouldn't recommend this game. There are much better out there for the same price. I gave it a 3 because its not worth playing, but it's also not glitchy or a cash grab or anything that makes it unplayable.
