Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising is a wonderful RPG. A spiritual successor to Suikoden, that will capture your imagination immediately. I loved the plot, the characters, and the modern aesthetics. Sadly, it isn't as original as Suikoden, but it is still worthy of your time.

Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising is a promising taste of what players can expect from the visual presentation of this captivating franchise. What it's lacking in enemy variety and mission diversity, it makes up for in style and flashy combat.

Eiyunden Chronicle: Rising is a carefree, beautiful and full of colorful action-JRPG characters, where with its ten-hour duration and low challenge, it can effortlessly offer fun to the unsuspecting who just downloaded it through Game Pass out of curiosity and finally ended up devouring it.

Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising is the Action-RPG equivalent of a solution without a problem -- an almost completely skippable prequel that fails to share any true gameplay DNA with next year’s Hundred Heroes, nor builds any excitement for it.

Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising is a really good 6 hour game stretched to be nearly three times as long.

Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising is a distinctly average prequel/spin-off that gets itself bogged down in busywork and repetitive running in circles, overshadowing its core dungeon-crawling and town-building action in the process. The combat here certainly has some reasonable ideas, the story is decent enough at providing a setup and it all looks very pretty, but there's just far too much in the way of unnecessary padding and jank to make it feel as though it's really worth your time and effort beyond gleaning a few insights into next year's full adventure, even at this budget price point. Fingers crossed 505's main course is much more satisfying.

Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising is a substantial title, both in terms of its content and its inspirations. The developers have skilfully “popularised” the RPG mechanics while associating an efficient and accessible action aspect. A pinch of Metroidvania for the exploration and voilà a recipe worthy of appearing on the menu of a Michelin-starred restaurant. This is mainly due to the experience gained by the developers who contributed to the Suikoden saga. Although it was conceived as a prologue to Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes, the title has a long lifespan and it takes around 20–25 hours to complete the main storyline. The side quests and the hunt for achievements obviously add to what the players are offered. It would therefore be a shame to miss out on this great introduction that will also be featured in the Gamepass as soon as it is released on the 10th of May 2022.
