    True to its name, Stranger of Paradise is a bizarre game. The combat is so much fun that it carries the rest of the disjointed process to the finish line. Those looking for an easier Soulslike experience with a lot of Final Fantasy fanservice will find a lot to love in Stranger of Paradise, as will those who found Elden Ring unnecessarily punishing. Stranger of Paradise is a lot of fun, so long as the player takes on Jack's mindset, and only focuses on killing Chaos and doesn't think too hard about anything else.

    Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin feels like a wasted opportunity, with an intriguing base idea but a lackluster plot, bad characterization and a disappointing technical production. It's partly saved by a satisfying - although not original - gameplay and a surprising ending.

    Long story short, Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origins feels like a game from two generations ago. Even if sometimes it could be perceived as a positive thing, it isn't when it means really poor graphics and an empty and bothersome story. Still, its combat system offers a fun and fresh experience, which will satisfy fans from the action genre. The question is if you'll be able to forgive its many, many flaws in favor of its fun gameplay.

    Much like the paradox a title like Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin conjures on both sides of the colon, the game itself appears to be of two halves competing against each other.

    With some updates to the game's loot system and improvements to performance, Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin has the potential to be a worthwhile action RPG for diehard Final Fantasy fans. However, there are just way too many things this game doesn't get right. It certainly isn't one of the best RPGs on Xbox, but if you have a few dedicated friends willing to endure this adventure via online co-op, you can undoubtedly share in a few great laughs. Still, I can't recommend Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin for anyone interested in a serious Final Fantasy story.

    worth it and glad to play this game again. so much memories and nostalgia within this spin off game in the series.

    Damn what a ride SoP was! If you are a FF fan you must not miss this, as it's just so much fun and so much chaos!

    I've never been the biggest fan of the Final Fantasy series, but this game is a lot of fun. The job system has some good customization to it, you can equip 2 jobs/builds and swap between them seamlessly even during combos which ended up being more interesting than I though it would be.

    Unfortunately everything else is a mess. The characters are horrible, the main character Jack is edge lord incarnate, there is a scene where he actually says "whatever" puts in his headphones and walks away from a conversation. The rest of the cast don't even have recognizable personalities, just generic carboard cutouts. The story is amazingly bad, the entire plot is just "kill CHAOS" which is the ambiguous darkness that is trying to consume everything, blah blah you've heard it before.

    The level design is just a series of menus where you select missions, no overworld or hub world just menus and cutscenes. The graphics also aren't anything special, looks like a ps3 game in some areas and even on performance mode I still got framerate dips during cutscenes.

    If you like souls games/nioh you might get some enjoyment out of the job system and combat but do not pay full price for this, just rent it or wait for a sale.    … Expand

Incoherent and really no story to drive you (some is revealed in the end) combined with a horrible adaption of "souls" gameplay. Honestly, buy Elden Ring instead and prepare to die a thousand times. It's more enjoyable. Forced myself through 30+ hours of this game, I didn't have to force myself through 300+ hours in ER.

    Game is good until you get to endgame. If you want access to the DLCs it forces you to play and farm at the hardest difficulty which is WAYGame is good until you get to endgame. If you want access to the DLCs it forces you to play and farm at the hardest difficulty which is WAY overtuned. Completely unfair and unfun battles. I am a big fan of souls games and completed all of them up to at least NG+++, every one of them. I have no problems with punishing gameplay. But SoP is bad on tuning difficulty and forcing you to play at higher diff for the DLCs is just plain disrespectful.… Expand
