Don't get me wrong this game has its problems but lets go over the good things first. The gameplay is of course a core third person shooter with RTS elements. While this might sound tedious it actually flows quite well and can be pulse pounding. The graphics are nothing special but not terrible. The story is a weak point but odd enough it's easily ignored amogst the frantic battles. It's basically a cheesy sci fi future that's terribly bland considering the setting. The game reminds me of Kane and Lynch: Dead Men where the flawed mechanics are nothing in compared to the exciting new ideas and creativity. Buy this game for the multiplayer as its a definite saving grace for this title.
This game is a miss. It is a complete f****** mess. It feels like a Japanese guys were forced into the basement to watch Total Recall continuously and then popped this out. This is fun to watch and a little bit to play.
I like the Style and the story it is very cheesy, but it is a little bit enjoyable but most of the time you're just trying to figure out. What is happening because it does not make sense moves of the time.
The voice acting is weird. It sounds like they are in different continents and not listening to each other's performances.
I like to future art style everything is blue and shiny and blue and maybe their ass one level that is pissed yellow but most of the time it's blue.
Did I enjoy my time with this game? I thought the hot scenes were fun to watch but the gameplay become tedious.
Feelplus and Square-Enixʼs new try in the shooting genre falls way too short, compared even to the weakest 3rd-person shooters of the last five years.
But despite its enormous potential, Mindjack is ultimately a frustrating and forgettable shooter with horrible presentation, clumsy controls and a plodding campaign.
On paper, the concept for Mindjack is definitely attractive. It's the execution of the concept that fails miserably due to lackluster gameplay, poor enemy A.I. and a ridiculously silly narrative.
This game has some good ideas but fails in execution. Enemy AI is **** cover system is worse. It felt like Alpha Protocol all over again. The controls are not much better but I got fairly used to them after trial and error. The multiplayer is this games saving grace in my opinion much like a similiarly flawed "Kane and Lynch". While extremely unbalanced the multiplayer is fun and exciting. Other good things I can say about this **** voice acting is solid, graphics passable and most importantly the gameplay while clunky is different enough to be entertaining. The storyline is like that of a bad 80's sci fi flick but not the worst ive seen. I suggest giving this game a rent or waiting for the price to drop. Oh and did I mention robotic combat apes? Yeah?
Honestly reading the reviews of this game makes me believe the people writing them played maybe the first 2 levels before making their judgement.
The third person cover mechanics being described as broken are far from they are almost identical in fact to the first gears of war game.
The AI is terrible this is true but it is only noticeable in relation to your allies. It is especially disconcerting in this regard as the mindjack mechanics which are a cool idea and should be a lot of fun cannot be used more often than not unless you want your main character to walk into the midst of your enemies whilst you attempt to make the most of this core mechanicism.
The graphics are pretty average for a 2011 game but better than earlier games which are described as amazing.
The Multiplayer works in much the same way as Dark souls with red or blue invaders. The rpg elements are not rpg elements essentially it is a couple of perks you can equip.
The thing I find weirdest is talk about how the story is one of it's redeeming qualities, here I disagree the most the story is terrible, it is a good concept, but the story lacks any interaction with the basic plot, lacks any real depth and honestly makes you feel like you are playing what is an alright game for absolutely no reason, all information is laid out in conversation based cut scenes and your boss battles which should lend a bit of variety to the faceless soldiers who you kill for who knows what reason are often more aggravating than entertaining, at certain points even leading you to fight indestructible enemies who will explode when you kill all the lackeys.
Ultimately I quit this game when I spent 20 minutes firing rockets into a boss without it dying only to have a mass of troops spawn beside me and kill me. Up until then I got a lot of entertainment from this game but after this with no vested interest in the story I just thought "what is the point."
It's not god awful terrible, but it is easily a bad game. Its concept was great, but its problems outweight the positives. I WAS going to give a 4, but the piss poor A.I drags it to a 3
MindJack has an excellent concept about its story line, however when the game was released in January 2011, this game is currently panned for the lack of aesthetics, poor enemy AI, and poor control of the character.
Seems like everything in this game works bad, like hundreds games that just copy and paste ideas of other games without any care.
The multiplayer can be fun, but when you realize that some are better than this, you will wanna get out.
If you want a good game, move away from here.
