Battlefield V brings a lot to the table. Between the great gameplay, superb story from singleplayer, and customization of your character, there's something for everyone.

After spending quite a while with the game, I’m blown away that there’s still so much to discover. With dozens of collectibles to find in the single player campaign, a seemingly-unlimited number of weekly challenges, and the Tides of War looming large on the horizon, Battlefield V is the best this series has ever been, and easily the best FPS of the season.

With the return to World War 2, Battlefield reaches a new zenith thanks to meaningful innovations - if one disregards the single player.

While I'm happy with what we got, I ultimately can't help but wonder what another six months could've done for Battlefield V. In a business with virtually no downtime, that's just the way it is.

On day one, the game feels a few reinforcements short to pull off the overwhelming victory we’ve come to expect given the series’ strong lineage.

As chaotic and exhilarating as Battlefield has always been. Just don’t expect a dramatic reinvention of the series.

Battlefield V fails to impress the same way Battlefield 1 did. By all means, give it a try if you’re a fan of DICE’s previous work, but know that you’ll have to put up with some pretty glaring faults.

    **UPDATE**

They've reverted all the terrible TTK changes, so I will revert my review change as well.

On December 12th, 2018, they rolled out a TTK update, which essentially reverted all of the hard work the team did to improve gunplay. This update wasn't asked for, as TTK was one of the highlights of the game. I'm changing my score from 10 to 2 due to this atrocious and unwelcome change.

    ** ORIGINAL REVIEW**
I've been a Battlefield veteran for a little under 10 years now, and Battlefield V is by far my favorite title in the series so far. I canceled my pre-order after the beta, but I decided to give it another shot as I love the series. DICE really took the constructive criticisms to heart. There are NO microtransactions in the game at launch, and when they arrive, they will be cosmetic only and no random boxes. All future content is free. The gunplay is comparable to BF3, which many people consider to have the best gunplay in the entire series. The character customization, while lacking an actual character creator, is in-depth enough for people who are into it yet not so in-depth that those who don't enjoy that aspect of a game won't find it tedious and distracting. The gameplay itself is fast paced and has a sense of urgency that I feel was missing from Battlefield 1. The weapon progression is fantastic, and the idea to have the starter weapons full upgraded on start prevents new players from being run over by veteran players (something that occurred in Battlefront 2). I was skeptical when I played the beta, like I'm sure many of you were, but rest assured, the final product is by far worth the money and a fantastic addition to the series. They took the better parts of the previous games, specifically regarding players' feedback, and created, in my personal opinion, one of the best FPS games in that last decade. If you are a fan of previous Battlefields and took a break due to the change BF1 saw in the series, I implore you to give Battlefield V a chance.

Giving it a 10 to counter the ridiculously low scores of some "fans".

Giving it a 10 to counter the ridiculously low scores of some "fans".

The game is actually a 9 IMO. In many respects it is better than BF1 and I put over 1000 hrs into that one.

Graphics and sound are amazing, gun play feels better, the maps are great - with several layers of depth that you discover, the more you play. If you dislike the game because of the trailers, opinions of individual devs and the lackluster single player, you are missing out. The only gripe for me are the vehicles, which are not really that fun right now, but I trust Dice to fix that really soon. Honestly, I don't even care that much, because the infantry and team play are so much improved that you don't really want to go into an airplane or a tank.

The game got a bad hype out of the gate. But if you choose your games based on that, you are missing out.

There is a lot of people right now trying to jump on the hate train, especially mid/low tier YouTubers who see it as a way of getting a few more like and subs. Don't let them influence you. Pick up this game and make your own mind.

A fun, great looking game with more than its share of annoying bugs that will no doubt be fixed over time - your standard BF release. AnotherA fun, great looking game with more than its share of annoying bugs that will no doubt be fixed over time - your standard BF release. Another round of subtle tweaks and improvements from BF1, but i can imagine many will still be wanting to see said improvements applied to a modern combat game with a wider range of vehicles and weapons. MP maps are fine for the most part, sadly nothing spectacular, hopefully this gets better over time.
To all the people pissing and moaning about there being too many women in multiplayer, you do know you can set the gender and appearance of every class as you want it, right? If you hear too many women screaming in game, thats the because the player either didnt change the default, or actively chose to change it to a female character, there is nothing PC about this

Historically inaccurate and jam packed with SJW nonsense. Personally I prefer my games without politics. Game play is decent. GraphicsHistorically inaccurate and jam packed with SJW nonsense. Personally I prefer my games without politics. Game play is decent. Graphics average. Gun play is slightly above average (if you are into shooters).

Overall, the game is too politicized and in doing so, the game devs sacrificed what made battlefield great.

Veteran of the series played every single bf game that was released on PC.
This review is purely online gameplaywise. Sure there might be gradual improvement over time but as the game is now its just bad.
    Where to start...
1.removing of 3d spotting was nice idea, but created more issues. For one camping lmg players with laser beam guns [KE7]; cant spot a fokin tiger tank that is 20yrds away despite spamming Q button which limits communication with your team soo soo much .
2.kill cam is worst ever combined with camping issue gets really annoying
3.general lack of class and guns balance (losing firefights simply because of weapon used not aim or skill), many useless "filler" weapons as for now
4.operation gamemode is a fokin pile of **** instead of gradual push on whole frontline its often decided on only a few players actions (picking up and planting bombs?!)
5.ttd is very short, making firefights less about shooting skill and more about jumping on other players and luck (also 1 frame death bug)
6.land vechicles are really weak as of now thanks to amount of handhold AT weapons avaiiable
7.air vs land combat is dog**** again (AA guns don't do **** against bombers, only threaten fighters) therefore need decent fighter player to even attempt combat bombers
8.fokin screenshake from explosions wont let you aim while ADS (holy **** it happens too often)
9.maps aren't really fun imo, especially given the destruction levels. Can only enjoy Rotterdam
10.Game somehow punishes soloplays, and given you can't always get online with your buddies it might ruin your experience
