Make no mistake: while it certainly doesn’t redefine the genre, Feudal Alloy is an incredibly strong second title from Attu Games. It abides by genre conventions with a style that is all its own, nearly flawless gameplay, and an injection of strategy sorely missing from most Metroidvanias. One of 2019’s first strong indie titles.
Feudal Alloy is a great game, but at the same time a weaker hybrid between Metroid and Castlevania. Just its rare visuals and fairy-steampunk world deserve your attention. [Issue#293]
A robotic medieval knight and dungeons full of gold? An irresistible combination. This weird platformer is pleasant to look at and fun to play, even though it’s a bit rusty around the edges.
I’m hopeful for Feudal Alloy. The style and mechanics are there, it just aches for a rebalancing of the introductory portion of the game. This is absolutely doable. And when it happens, it’ll be an unconditional recommendation. That doesn’t mean you should give it a miss now – just prepare yourself for a rocky start.
Very nice handheld graphics. Before buying, it is very important to remember that the style of the game is Metroidvania, which means respawn enemies, more difficulty etc. If you like this game mechanics (same as Ori: The blind forest) this game is for you.
It starts out nice, then after a bit you start to see the cracks show in the quality. The enemy design is basic and the combat quickly goes from okay to tedium. I wouldn't say the game is "bad", but it's also not very good. I'd recommend look at just about any other 2d metroidvania before bothering with this one.
The art style is very good but everything else is just meh. And this stupid overheating mechanic is absolutely annoying. Also, block doesn't work, bombs do not work. Is that supposed to be cause it's the first level or is it a bug? How do I know? The game tells you nothing. What are these strange machines with strange signs? Well, no information for you. Waste **** art style. Avoid.
Game looks pretty nice, visuals are so attractive looks hand drawn. But that is the only good part of the game, except movement is also smooth.
Combat is non-existent you just swing your sword, and the strategy is all about cheesing and jumping. Enemies are extremely simple (hence the strategy to defeat), but that doesn't mean it is easy cuz there is a heating up mechanic which is a nice idea that could improve. But the game is unplayable, there is no knowledge given to you about nothing at all with no hints, there is literally no literality, no numbers, nothing. You gotta figure out everything in a hard game where you will end up dead trying stuff out, and will start 15 to 20 mins away everytime with all the consumables you used gone, and the shop being 30 mins away through a troublesome trip for you to take with no potions in hand. And good luck finding your way back to shop cuz the map has the same literality. Is it that bad? No. But i dont expect to hold every route in my memory so i don't lose my way and be on toes every second i spend in a game that doesn't have the atmosphere or gameplay that kind of tediousness requires. Plus a metroidvania with a bad map is equal to frustration for no reason. I mean why?
SummaryAttu is an ordinary fish-controlled farmer robot who lives in a small cottage in sunflower fields. He had been living a simple but pleasant life until a bunch of outlaws attacked the village, stole their oil supplies and burnt his house. Fortunately, he managed to grab his old sword and fled into the woods…
