This co-operative action horror FPS takes you and your friends through the cities, swamps and cemeteries of the Deep South, from Savannah to New Orleans across five expansive campaigns. Play as one of four new survivors armed with a wide and devastating array of classic and upgraded weapons. In addition to firearms, you'll also get a chance to take out some aggression on infected with a variety of carnage-creating melee weapons, from chainsaws to axes and even the deadly frying pan. You'll be putting these weapons to the test against (or playing as in Versus) three horrific and formidable new Special Infected. You’ll also encounter five new "uncommon" common infected, including the terrifying Mudmen. Helping to take L4D's frantic, action-packed gameplay to the next level is AI Director 2.0. This improved Director has the ability to procedurally change the weather you’ll fight through and the pathways you'll take, in addition to tailoring the enemy population, effects, and sounds to match your performance. L4D2 promises a satisfying and uniquely challenging experience every time the game is played, custom-fitted to your style of play. [Valve] Expand

L4D2 delivers multiple improvements over its predecessor, and I get to keep all my fingers and toes.

It's better than the first game, then. The biggest achievement, however, is that Valve - who are known to take their time - have managed to put such an enormous wealth of content out in a single year. Left 4 Dead 2 doesn't just add a few new levels and features, it fiddles and increments a formula that few thought needed changing in the first place. The team have managed to infuse their sequel with the exact same kind of nuanced creative energies that usually takes them years, and in doing so they've made last year's accomplished Left 4 Dead look like a simple mod in comparison.
  3. Left 4 Dead 2 is better and bigger than Left 4 Dead. It’s a sequel that builds on its incredibly stern and ludicrously fun foundations, expanding in all the right places and scrubbing out all the little problems that existed in the original.
  4. Left 4 Dead 2 manages to recapture the strong points of the first game while improving on them too. If the real zombie apocalypse is going to be as fun as this one, you have nothing to worry about.
  5. Left 4 Dead 2 is better than the original in virtually every way and every bit as replayable. I would say there is enough new stuff to justify it being released as a sequel, but on the other hand I agree with many that say this is what L4D should’ve been.
  6. Left 4 Dead 2 is a great sequel. Bigger and more variation in the gameplay – it is how it should be.
  7. Left 4 Dead 2 may have lost some of that new zombie smell, but its cooperative play is still among the best.

This game is a blast to play and the steam achievments add that much more to it.
The graphics are top notch so i dunno wth JayF is talking about.
I'm running an old GTX295 and it looks awesome cranked up so maybe his card needs replaced not this game.
Now on top of all the goodness add the add on campaigns free from lfd2maps.com and you get more for your dollar than you can shake a dismembered limb at.

We played Dead Center the first time we played and had some Co-op fun. If you can find it on sale it's a great value especially with the new free Cold Stream DLC. Expand

I finally decided to finish the campaigns that were long overdue and I'm glad I have. I won't spend much time describing the game as I'm sureI finally decided to finish the campaigns that were long overdue and I'm glad I have. I won't spend much time describing the game as I'm sure everyone is familiar with this one. Technically speaking, Left 4 Dead 2 is better than the original game. More weapons, more zombie types, some very nice maps. However, as a Horror fan, I personally liked Left 4 Dead better than the sequel. Everything has been improved in Left 4 Dead 2 at the expense of the horror element. The first game was pretty scary, this one for some reason is not.

If you plan to play Left 4 Dead 2, there were 2 peaks of the game for me and you should not miss it. Firstly, The Dark Carnival campaign with its amazing final mission (I won't spoil it, just play it). And secondly, the Scavenge Mode where one team plays as the survivors trying to fuel up a generator in a limited amount of time and the other team as the infected. Probably one of the most entertaining multiplayer experiences.

Expand

Steam and L4D2 is a complete joke, you can't resell the game due to the registration online. Just shows what greedy capitalists Valve Steam and L4D2 is a complete joke, you can't resell the game due to the registration online. Just shows what greedy capitalists Valve are. Imagine buying a TV and not being able to sell it..only YOU can watch it lol that kind of thing. The word ridiculous isn't strong enough. But what goes around comes around, give it a few years and no one will be playing L4D and there won't be L4D3 or L4D4. Even if there was, are you dumb enough to buy it? Another $50 for a few extra weapons and the SAME storyline? Haha...Better spend your money on medical treatment, seriously. Expand
