Plants vs Zombies is what casual gaming is really all about; it's intuitive, easy to start and stop at any time, and has a tremendous variety of gameplay modes.

Plants Vs Zombies is clearly a labour of love and on top of that it's what you might call the perfection of simplistic budget gaming. The game stimulates the emotional mind from start to finish, providing the kind of spontaneous quick-fire stimulation that our minds have come to expect from 21st century lifestyles.
  3. With a main game mode that spans 50 levels, numerous unlockable modes that extend the lifespan significantly, stupidly addictive gameplay and fun-infused presentation you'd be a fool to pass up Plants Vs Zombies.
  4. Plants vs. Zombies is not just one of the best tower defense games out there, it also gives you a tremendous value for the mere 10 euro you pay for it. PopCap has really surpassed anything they have done before with this game’s beautiful graphics, depth and modes that will keep you busy for months. You’ll love every minute of it.
  5. Plants vs. Zombies is not as complex as classic titles of this genre, GemCraft and Protector, but then again, it doesn't want to be hardcore. Its graphics are nice despite the minuscule 800x600 resolution, voice-overs make you smile, and there are many ways to entertain yourself (even more than in Space Rangers 2).

PopCap at its finest. [July 2009, p.95]
  7. This game masters all aspects of a good tower defense game and comes along with a lot levels and many items to unlock. Recommendation alert.

It's definitly worth the $10 on steam, and with the amout of actual content is worth the $20 if you want a boxed copy. Expand

This is game crafting at it's best and you'll be playing for weeks. It's the kind of game where you sit up from your computer and realise you've just spent 4 straight hours glued to the screen. You won't mind though, those Zombies had it coming. What is most surprising is it's depth; without mentioning all the mini-games and extra bits, the main game forces you to make really tough decisions all the time: do you really NEED the Jalapeno for this lesson or can you get by without it and put in the gatling pea attachment for some extra firepower? Great game, impossible to dislike. (Unless, like Henry, you get your kicks from watching your POWER GAMING HOUSE make pretty colours for you) ;) Expand

It has a very unique style and charm that belongs almost solely to this game, although you can sense a somewhat shallower version of its charm in the other games in the franchise if you know what I mean. It's filled with unique and entertaining content that I still come back to after 10 years of playing, and a lot of replayability. The original PVZ has the best casual gameplay I've run into; it doesn't get boring but is never stressful. I also want to point out that this does not have any of the problems other tower defense games have, so much so that I didn't even realize it was one until around my 8th year of owning the game. Overall an amazing game, just short of a masterpiece (which I believe if the original release included multiplayer it could be considered a 10/10). Expand

I'm with Henry. The PC is the most powerful gaming platform, use it! If someone released a 2D game with poor animation on the Xbox or I'm with Henry.
