Stealth Bastard Deluxe - Launch Trailer
Positive: 9 out of 10

Dec 28, 2012Stealth Bastard is the platformer beyond compare. Out of its plain mechanics the game is able to offer interesting puzzles along with its extraordinary gameplay full of speedrun.
Dec 4, 2012Stealth Bastard combines a clever design with navigation puzzles, traditional platforming and a complete level editor.
Dec 6, 2012At its best SBD's blend of twitch-platforming and stealth puzzles produces little rat-runs with a nigh-on perfect balance of action and tension. Such quality isn't quite sustained across the whole, but this is still within touching distance of greatness, and certainly much classier than Tactical Espionage Arsehole suggests.
Dec 4, 2012Stealth Bastard Deluxe is a competent little head-scratcher, then, and while the death of your anonymous clone subject is constant, it is rarely aggravating.
Dec 12, 2012While it may embrace some of the stealth genre's conventions that it seems directly antithetical to, Stealth Bastard's fantastic level design, wit, and devious death traps result in a thoroughly unique and enjoyable take on the stealth genre.
PC PowerPlayMar 7, 2013A fantastic package, and a genuinely unique take on the puzzle platformer. [March 2013, p.89]
Mar 15, 2013The concept of Stealth Bastard is ripe for a mind-bending puzzle adventure. Alas, instead of teasing our brains, Curve Studios made a tedious exercise for training finger strength.

The gameplay and level design was perfect. Always challenging and rewarding, but never too complex or too hard. A couple of the later levels have a frustrating difficulty. That's how it should be! The final boss was a little too easy, though...
What's missing is character. A lot of indie games have beautiful artworks, an unusual setting or music so distinct that it would never make it into a AAA title. That's where indie games usually shine. But SBD is a little boring in that respect. The presentation seemed quite mediocre, music was terrible... But one thing in SDB's favor: I loved the ending. Not only funny but also very intelligent.
Despite it could be better in the mentioned aspects, SBD was great fun to play. Recommended to anyone.… Expand

Aug 5, 2022My Stealth Bastard Deluxe Video Review:
Can I recommend Stealth Bastard Deluxe to casual players and theirMy Stealth Bastard Deluxe Video Review:
Can I recommend Stealth Bastard Deluxe to casual players and their families with clear conscience? There are for sure many things that I like about the game - good level design, many interesting puzzles to solve, functional system of light and dark, challenging yet not frustrating difficulty, responsive and user friendly controls, online leaderboard, beautiful pixel art graphics and atmospheric music. There are also some things that I dislike - lack of proper story, trial and error approach, necessity to have the brightness almost on the maximum to see some areas and the absence of RPG elements that would enhance the gameplay. Stealth Bastard Deluxe is suitable for family playing if you have at least 10 years old kids as the depiction of your hero’s deaths is quite explicit and the difficulty would be also too high for younger kids. Unfortunately, there is no local co-op in the game which would make the game even better. Like this you can still compete to see who can finish the level in better time and get the higher place in the leaderboard. The good thing is that the game has a level editor and support of community levels so the new content which can make the game last longer is guaranteed.
- level design
- functional dynamic lightning
- community levels
- lack of story
- trial and error approach
- too dark sometimes
- absence of RPG elements
- no local multiplayer
Despite of many deaths I have really enjoyed Stealth Bastard Deluxe thanks to the instant gameplay, inventive level design and interesting puzzle to solve and let’s be honest thanks to the presence of leaderboard as well and thus I am giving the game Thumbs Up and VideoGaming Father’s Index 8 out of 10 - recommended.… Expand
Jun 19, 2018It's aight. Not my type of game, but it's good. Lacks a story. Basically a speed-run puzzler kinda.

If you loveThe graphics are excellent, the controls are tight, but this really feel more like an infuriating puzzle game than anything else. If you love solving very hard puzzles and doing so very fast and flawlessly then this game is for you. If you are a meticulous stealther or dislike puzzle games move on.
I wish the previews had conveyed more of the puzzle element. I'll research more thoroughly next time.… Expand
