Succeeds where "Rollercoaster Tycoon" and even "Sim Theme Park" failed—it gives you the true sensation of riding a rollercoaster, the logical tools to build them, and the ability to show your work quickly and easily.
You can "create the ultimate coaster -- and ride it!" But at the same time you can do very little else, and while the ride might be the ultimate, too much else just seems to be missing.
The game's puzzles provide plenty of challenge for amateur coaster designers, and the rating system gives you an incentive to continue working on tracks even after the basic requirements have been satisfied.
A terrific program to keep around for dabbling purposes—load up a design, tinker with it, put it away for a while. More obsessive types will probably tweak their rides infinitely.
What Ultimate Ride does, it does pretty well. The problem is that it does so very, very little. And with an entrance fee of $40, there should be much, much more: people in foam rubber animal costumes, women flashing their breasts on the log ride, kids barfing during the loops, etc.
SummaryCustom design, test, and ride roller coasters in your own theme park. Ride them in first person mode them posting them online. Also includes a mission mode. [Disney Interactive]
