It is mechanics that glue Black Ops 4 together, then, rather than any particular theme, which helps each component drill down into what its good at. The competitive multiplayer can afford to be break-neck at all times, because you can happily nick off and play the more languid, tense and tactical Blackout.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is a pleasant surprise. While it’s lacking in any major offering for those wanting a campaign to play through, everything else is refined and iterated on in meaningful ways. Blackout is a blast, traditional multiplayer is as good as it’s been in years, and Zombies is insanity in all the right ways. Minor concerns aside, this is the best Call of Duty package I’ve played in a long, long time, and think the trade off of a campaign for Blackout — something I was more than surprised by — has been well worth it.

No, Black Ops 4 doesn’t have a proper campaign mode, but is so good on the online side: Great competitive multiplayer, three amazing zombie stories and the best battle royale mode you can find out there.

Black Ops 4 brings the fun and dares to change. There might not be a campaign, but its replacement called Blackout is so much fun to play. Even if Battle Royale isn't your thing, you can still find enjoyment in the revamped Zombies and the multiplayer modes.

With Black Ops 4, Treyarch has clearly made the biggest community-oriented game of the series, but it still feels like an opus that lacks ambition, relying instead on proven mechanics.

Call of Duty Black Ops 4 isn’t the best in the series, but it’s solid enough to justify it’s sequel monicker. Blackout is such an exhilarating take on the Battle Royale genre that it’s hard to not recommend it to even casual fans. Zombies is engaging and fun, especially with its story, but I wish it took more liberties with its maps. Multiplayer is great for veteran Call of Duty players, but offers little to no innovation over previous entries in the series.

I didn’t think they were able to pull it off but black ops 4 proves that cod can still provide the action and gritty war game that fans want. Blackout is on a whole new level and great addition to the game multiplayer comes back and is still great, and the zombies is fun and challenging like we’ve never seen before. I can’t say this is the best cod game to come out recently but that doesn’t mean anything to the fact that it is great!! Expand

If your reading the other negative reviews because of the lack of single player 9 times out of 10 they suck @ the multiplayer aspect. HoweverIf your reading the other negative reviews because of the lack of single player 9 times out of 10 they suck @ the multiplayer aspect. However there is a single player which introduces you to the specialists (their back stories and how to use them ) which is, if you add it up , longer than any call of duty campaign period . Which also teaches you their abilities and shows you how they can be effective in combat , so those negative reviers that suck @ the multiplayer aspect can get good. So again keep in mind if you look @ all the reviews that are negative its because of no campaign which in turn revert to my 1st sentence. The multiplayer is different which some claim theres no originality? (Facepalm) Slap them because this is the only cod that you have to heal your self on your own . That there is original isnt it ?! In my honest opinion this feels like black ops 1 with black ops 2s guns black ops 3s specialista and the fact you have to be tactical to survive. A perfect mix for this franchise. The Black out mode is 2nd to non unless you like to build then go to the kiddie fortnite , because this here is for the grown n sexy lol . Better than h1z1 better than pubg but not graphic wise it is toned down but its been flawless. Which reminds me of a review i read that said the connection was laggy, you sir need a faster connection. Ill say this is the best cod since mw1 n bo1 Expand

There may be no campaign, but the mp is refined, Blackout is one hell of a BR and Zombies is as fun as it's always been. And I'm really, really not a fan-boy. It's not perfect, but it's decent. I'd usually give it an 8, but mindless trolls need to be countered. Expand

    Pros:

Alright I paid for classic version and I'm not happy with this game.

    PROS
    - Fun to kill zombies with friends
    - Nice visuals
    - Fun voice lines
    - Incredible Level design (especially titanic)

    CONS
    - Constantly crashes (it's beyond ridiculous for such a big company)
    - HUD is clumsy as **** (you get tiny arrows to see your friends in the map...they are really tiny and you see them ONLY if they are not in your camera's direction.
    - Fans knows there is no minimap, but why indicate poorly players positions ? Just go full "hardcore" or casual, but not a weird clumsy mix between both. (Tiny arrows when you look sideways...)

    - Interface clumsy as well ( Mode selection actually mixes between modes, maps, AND difficulty, all of them presented the same way with banners). Do you even game design ?

    - Secrets are fun...but when EVERYTHING is secret it just becomes retarded. Do you expect your players to dive into the code or something ? We want to play, not to get into Matrix. We need both classic objectives and secrets. Again. Game Design.

    - Not enough content for the price. (not mentioning bugs...)

    - Badly optimised.

    - Last but not least : Limited lifespan. When you get to wave 34, waves are so long you just want to turn off your PC and go play outside. It has no point, no endgame objectives. You'll get all possible upgrades by wave 35. Do it once and get bored.

TLDR : Unstable game, too expensive, not enough content, clumsy interface and HUD..

-- Bad server issues, don't know if they released to early, but connection and sync issues made playing with friends a moot point.

-- Horrendous frame-rate drops, and i only played with 3 others!!

-- Graphics from Black ops 1

-- Weapons feel clunky and just overall un real.

No wonder they left out the campaign mode, did not have enough time to fix alot of issues.. COD series has offically gone to sh$$$
