Addictive and accessible, PUBG is a great game for PS4.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds manages to differentiate itself from its battle royale progeny with its more tactical spin on the formula, even with its obvious lack of presentational prowess. While its grounded approach can be brutal at first, if you take the time to immerse yourself in its stress inducing battles, you’ll find yourself involved in epic engagements that will have you sharing your successes – and failures – with anyone willing to listen. It may not be the king anymore, but PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds still more than deserves a place at the top table.

In the face of quicker, louder rivals, PUBG offers a slow and meditative experience. It’s not, I would imagine, unlike sitting in a deer blind waiting for an unlucky whitetail to pass below. While PUBG’s technical issues are ever-present, they rarely spoil this core experience. This is a buggy game, but they aren’t game breaking bugs.

Though ironically beaten to the punch by the likes of H1Z1 and Call of Duty, and tarnished by a handful of shortcomings, PUBG nonetheless remains a commendably inventive and expansive shooter that deftly embodies the Battle Royale genre.

There is a whole generation of PS4 owners who are probably way too deep into Fortnite, with that game being their first exposure to the genre. While I wouldn’t count myself amongst them, I cannot imagine that any of those people would choose this $30 experience, with little promise to grow and improve, over triple-A titles that have since leapfrogged over PUBG.

A no-thrills PlayStation 4 port that has most of what you’d want from PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds but in a much uglier, watered down package.

At its core, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds relies on the unpredictability of players to help provide the variety, and that is not a bad way to go. Still, I would really like to see the technical issues smoothed out and more variety in the form of maps added to help make PUBG's a better overall experience.

Technical and slow-paced, it takes time to get used to your survival mechanics. But after the first victory you can't stop playing. Technically fulfilled but not the best. Its gameplay is a recycling of several market shooter. What makes the game really special is the feeling of the cat and the mouse in the games which makes it the best Battle royale on the market. You have to come to it realizing that graphics are not top notch, and yes there are some interesting bugs. However, in my opinion, this does not affect the overall experience. I have played first person shooters for years and more recently got into fortnight (about a year of playing). I decided to give PUBG a try. There is a steep learning curve. A few matches before I managed to get my first kill and somewhere between 50-70 to get my first solo win. That first win left me literally shaking from the adrenaline rush that came with it. This is exactly what I am looking for in a game. I don't want one that I can master in a matter of hours and lose interest in within 2-6 months. The game is definitely slower paced overall, but when you engage in the few gun battles that you have in any given match it is action packed and and a huge adrenaline rush. The amount of actual thought and calculation that you have to put into your every move is what makes this a great game. It isn't for everyone, but for those that enjoy a very technically challenging game, PUBG is it. Expand

Now I’m not a fan of online multiplayers particularly shooters of which this is so I’m new to this and wow it’s a tough learning curve. FirstNow I’m not a fan of online multiplayers particularly shooters of which this is so I’m new to this and wow it’s a tough learning curve. First rule of thumb is check out all the online tips, tricks and hints. And surprisingly you actually win without nearly firing a shot so it’s not all about running around trying in vain to kill any and everyone. Stealth is your friend. Don’t land near lots of buildings. Yes there are technical glitches, frame rate issues and stuff but basically wait until there is around 15-10 of you left if you survive and then hope for the best. So online multiplayer shooter, no it’s a stealth online multiplayer with shooting elements. And I’ve just realised too, you will if your new to this be players are on this like 24/7 who play on PC and or XBOX so I wouldn’t think your PS4 to PS4 exclusive PUBG, so it’ll be like PC to XBOX, PS4 to XBOX, so it’s anybodys game on any console. But it’s bloody tough. Expand
