An interestingly conceived tower defense game that will please fans of the genre who are tired of its stupor. It is a satisfying and entertaining action game. The ideal choice for those who are depressed that the new school year is beginning, and that they have nothing to play during their classes.
This a unique take on a tower defense in that it mixes in real time strategy components. There's a lot of micro throughout the levels, rather than just sitting back and watching towers blow things up 90% of the time. There's also a time factor in each level, so you need to balance building defenses and engines so you can make your delivery in time. All in all it was a very fun game.
This deserves much more attention - a suprising new take on the whole tower defense idea, and very well executed. The encounters are fun and never too long, upgrading you ship is straightforward but provides quite the mental challenge further on, and in-between missions you can buy improvements for the various turrets, shield generators and engines you can put on your ship.
Definitely worth a try, and a lot fo the annoying little things mentioned in other reviews have already been fixed.
Space Run shines from the depths of space, from the challenging gameplay to the deep strategy mechanics. I looked forward to every cutscene with glee, whether it featured Buck Mann talking terms with an employer, or had me trading fightin' words with pirates.
Space Run is a solid entry in a genre that is full of unimaginative titles, and from the get go Space Run supplies an easy to understand, but challenging to beat campaign that will keep people’s minds and fingers active from beginning to end.
Space Run is a fair, challenging (if you try to get 5 star ratings) Tower-Defense-style game that requires some micro. It gets seldom hectic if you use the configurable hotkeys.
With the latest update, level starting sequences, boss cinematics and dialogues can be skipped, starting ship layouts are preserved on level restart and tower rotation (actually only required for one kind of low level tower) got easier. Hexnuts can now be collected automatically. Therefore the developer has now fixed all most often criticized points except building in pause mode (which IMHO is not necessary).
I played 35 hours to get all 30 achievements. And it was fun!
6.5 actually. Decent solo TD. Gameplay is fun, strategy is decent: each different employer requires you carry a different type of cargo, these come with negative side effects that will change the way you plan your ship build. Annoyingly, you must place the cargo before you pull out of the dock, which means either playing the level handicapped, or restarting a launch scene you can't skip. The "path" the mobs take is static, so once you've run the level a few times you'll know where to build first. The voice acting is good, but the story is bland, and the jokes are worse. Similar to the SC2 warship map in building in that different towers take up room, require power, will need a shield etc.
The game is fun at **** has some flaws in its design that keeps it from a better **** example:In some level you can only get a higher rating through equipment that you unlock later. There is no chance to do a delivery faster without the better engine for example(that you unlock later in the game).Thats not realy rewarding cause you cant beat the clock(the rating depends on you time you need through the **** depends only on better equipment, not skill.Visuals are ok and the voiceacting is **** in all the game is fun.
Almost a good game, but there are a few very annoying nuances that keep it from being bun. First off, there is a fair amount of micro-managing your defense, which is great and fun, IF I have the opportunity to pause the game, decide what needs to be done, fiddle with the clumsy controls and then un-pause and watch my tactical cleverness win the day. Instead I expected to micro manage the direction my guns are facing, on the fly, to fend off attacks that come from all directions. Even more annoying is the fact that most guns can only shoot one direction and their field of fire is very limited making it nearly impossible to defend all situations that come at you. I love tower defense and I love strategy and this game gets close to pulling it off, but after a few hours of restarting in frustration because my guns just barely could not hit the baddie, I called it quits. I wish steam had a satisfaction guarantee the way origin did, because I would like to return this game.
SummarySpace Run is a real-time spaceship construction strategy game. Space Run takes the well-known Tower Defense-style gameplay and twists it, challenging you to manage and protect a spaceship and its cargo against the hazards of deep space.
