Spirit Roots offers exceptionally well made platforming and art design that is consistently impressive, but a rough checkpoint and health system is a bump in the road worth noting.
Spirit Roots is a simple, 2D platformer that should not be underestimated. With a very appealing art style and a good level of challenge on its level bosses, Spirit Roots can be quite enjoyable. On the other hand, once the game is done there's not a lot of reasons to pick it up again but regardless of that, it's a very welcome addition to the Nintendo Switch catalogue.

Spirit Roots‘ charming aesthetics are not enough to warrant suffering through its many monotonous levels. Although some may find enjoyment in the challenges it poses and its platforming, it is more frustrating than fun, especially where its boss battles are concerned.
Summary Spirit Roots is a fun, old-school 2D platformer with a touching story and a happy ending. Your journey will take you through five atmospheric worlds, each with its own unique gameplay mechanics, enemies, and level design. Defeat the enemies to return to your family!
