The Finals has given me some of my favorite multiplayer moments in 2023. Whether actively engaging in vertical combat or excitedly scaling rooftops on the way to the next objective, navigating the environments feels incredible, and the thrill of watching the ground disappear from below my feet never gets old. In a year of groundbreaking video game releases, The Finals is yet another highlight.
The Finals is the kind of game that you play when you want to live an action film. You’ll most definitely find a playstyle you like in one or more of the three classes. While there are too many factors outside of player control to consider this a truly high-level competitive game, it sure is a fun time. That being said, if you’ve been disappointed by recent FPS titles, then try The Finals for some high octane gameplay.

Their season 2 update adds more content than Fortnite’s latest update even tho they are a small studio and their overall closeness and care with their community is heartwarming to see in an age where companies just want money and never listen to their fanbases

Hellishly fun multiplayer action, standing on a well-executed class system and the destruction of everything around. It excels in both aspects. Whether you're running on walls to send enemies back to respawn with an automatic shotgun or breaking through the floor to send a guarded safe to another floor, these are some of the best gaming moments you can experience with friends. It's just a shame that The Finals, despite varied maps and special events during the game, lacks greater diversity in game modes and maps.
Bombastic fun: The Finals cannot be categorized as an online shooter. And that is really refreshing.
The Finals offers an easy-to-learn FPS playground with a strong visual identity and some of the best destruction tech I’ve ever seen. Time will tell whether it can keep an audience, but right now it’s slick.
With loadouts to assemble and coordinated teams laughing to the bank, every breath of The Finals’ destruction does justice to its game show ambitions.
Embark Studios' multiplayer shooter dazzles in the moment, but its AI voices are symptomatic of a broader issue with artistic vision.
Great quick multiplayer game. Very fluid and fun! Lacks depth to it, but it doesn't matter since it's just a quick game for when you need to kill some time with couple other friends :D

Despite overall good production value, the finals is in my opinion too team-focused in it's overal design, while the actual gameplay and balancing generally doesn't promote or incentivise teamplay at all. Each role has different speeds,abilities and kits that are often very specific and only really synergize with other roles when the team actively communicates and coordinates (something I have yet to witness). If you can drag a friend or two into your lobby, you're probably going to enjoy this game a lot after some initial learning matches. But solo queing is not really a great time, and thats what most players are gonna end up doing.

The core game is fun but everything other then gameplay is terrible. I am getting sick of games having to be updated before they can be played properly. The game has terrible balancing the matchmaking is so bad you can't play with friends. Just to make that worse it's a co op game. There is an achievement for playing in a party but humans have different skill levels so the matchmaking is always dragging players behind. Sbmm should not be in unranked at all let alone seriously strict.
The game is a grind for everything and new players have terrible stuff and struggle to compete. Unlocking stuff is good but all equipment needs to have a useful purpose. In the finals some stuff is just useless and other stuff is top tear. Heavys are OP and Smalls are basically 1 shot.
The game needs to much work and needs to not try be so competitive but more a casual fun shooter.
Edit: Dropping my review a couple marks since the devs are ignoring the community. Basically just said expect changes after countless people from the community saying the skill based matchmaking is ruining their experience. It wouldn't be so bad if casual didn't feel identical to ranked. If your playing casual you don't want to have your A game on. Or if you put the game down for a week and come back and a bit rusty, you end up being dragged along and hold your team back. People are getting tired of all FPS games feeling like this which is why recently all these cranked up FPS shooters have been loosing hundreds of thounsands of players. Even Call of duty has lost most of its players. Both MW2 and MW3 put together are doing worse then Black Ops 4 was around this time after its launch. The Finals had the opportunity to be better but instead its just gonna be another FPS live service that gets left and forgotton about. Which is why its like 80% of its players since launch. Games do have a drop-off but when its that much its a bad game. Its likely why the devs even said anything at all or they would have just ignored everyone. These devs are no different to ones at Call of duty. They don't care at all.
