TimeShift changes the fundamental way gamers think about first-person shooters by using the fourth dimension: time itself. TimeShift empowers players with the gift of time manipulation, including the ability to slow down, stop and rewind the world around them, allowing them to move freely while opponents and game objects are frozen in time. TimeShift feature mores than 30 combat missions, each showcasing time control elements and challenges that players must solve using both their extraordinary capabilities and combat expertise. An array of devastating and unique weaponry from the world's alternate timeline is at the player's disposal, including bizarre incarnations of traditional sniper guns, machine guns, pistols and more, as well as never-before-imagined armaments from an era humanity has never seen. 1. The time-stopping fun is handled really well, too. It’s especially fun to see individual raindrops freeze as you slow time down and run about disarming a whole group of enemies. In general, the game is as interesting to look at as it is to play.
  2. The combat is a blast (literally!), particularly when you use your time powers effectively. Unfortunately, the puzzles are far too simple.
  3. The greatest shame is that developer Saber Interactive wasn’t bold or ambitious enough to really capitalise on the one or two good ideas they actually had, and that’s ultimately the difference between a game that is just good and a game that is great.
  4. Timeshift is a simplistic and vaguely enjoyable shooter with an unfortunately scheduled release. It's a shame about the other shortcomings Timeshift brings to the table, otherwise it could have been a sleeper classic.
  5. With your $60 on the line, however, it's only multiplayer that rescues TimeShift from the throes of average-dom. [Holiday 2007, p.74]
  6. TimeShift's appeal and lasting value are directly proportional to what you're in it for and what you're willing to put up with. The single-player campaign is justifiably criticized with being overtly derivative, but the time shifting component makes it just fresh enough to be worth a look.
  7. Hopscotching its way from borrowed concept to borrowed concept, TimeShift is substantially less than the sum of its all-too-obvious parts.

The european reviews are much higher than the above which is odd. I wonder why they see what I do and the critics above don't seem to get it. Strange to see a game this good smacked-down so hard. I hope lots more sites review it by playing it and not just deciding it isn't Halo so it doesn't rate a 300. Expand

By the end I was loving it. Once you get the hang of the time pause (which you get quickly) and figure out what your favorite weapons are, this game flies. Giving it a 50 is absurd. Who knows, maybe the reviewers feel like they really "know games" or something. This was fun. The outdoor levels were beautiful. 70 overall is very misleading. My top ten rankings for the 360 are: 1. Bioshock 2. Gears of War 3. Halo 3 - 4 Lost Planet 5. Timeshift 6. Call of Duty 4 7. F.E.A.R. 8. Crackdown 9. Fight Night Round 2 10. Oblivion Expand

demo is pretty fun but feels at times very claustrophobic. i hope the full game has some open areas to walk around rather than folowing ademo is pretty fun but feels at times very claustrophobic. i hope the full game has some open areas to walk around rather than folowing a linear path. the time manipulation is great and makes you wonder why nobody didnt do this before, having said that...it also seems like an old idea, i mean...there are lots of great games out there, for us to go dish out 60 bucks for this is a daunting affair. its gona sit next to assasins creed and bioshock and halo on the store shelves for god sakes, at least design a main hero with first and third person views, rather than just the visor view and some in between action cinematic
glimpses of this "time dude". maybe i should get a job there and teach them how a hit game needs to be made : )

Ok how is this game even getting a 6/10 I cannot believe that people like this game. The enemies are brain dead and are bullet sponges. TheOk how is this game even getting a 6/10 I cannot believe that people like this game. The enemies are brain dead and are bullet sponges. The puzzles are nonsensical, and there is no logic in anything your character does, you place timebombs down and your character sets them for two seconds! You die immediately! Even when you move away the hitbox will get you and you will throw your controller. There is NO story I am not kidding you will never know what is going on, and it will have random cutscenes of people you have never seen or heard of getting out of bed and turning on their phone and then its over. STAY AWAY FROM THIS GAME. This is probably the worst game I have ever played. You will like the time aspect but then it will quickly become sour. Buy something else. Expand
