DonCJun 8, 2009Absolutely brilliant songwriting and singing, each song stronger than the one before.

ScottBMar 12, 2009As an old guy, I'm a huge fan of his parents (singly and together) but Teddy is surely living up to the family legend on this one. It is so strong, and I truly hope that it will propel him beyond cult status.

DavidO.Aug 22, 2008Fantastic, heart-felt album full of fantastic melodies and pointed insight into the human condition. One of the best albums I've listened to in a while.

BillR.Aug 20, 2008Great songs, but I'm just wondering how this album has an 84 metacritic score when the highest rating it got was an 80...hmm???

KevinS.Aug 19, 2008One of the best discs of the year. Teddy has stepped up to be one of the best singer songwriters of his generation.

AlexP.Aug 18, 2008Big TT fan. Excellent album, slightly more of a pop feel than previous ( excluding the album of country covers he did ) album Separate Ways. Stand out tracks are Where To Go From Here, In My Arms and Cant Sing Straight, which is an out n out classic. Really happy to see this album get a good score....not sure it this album will propel him into the public eye more

Teddy Thompson has taken a more user-friendly approach on A Piece of What You Need, but he hasn't sold his soul or lost what makes him special along the way, and this is a clever, adventurous, and thoroughly engaging exercise in smart pop that's as thoughtful as it is pleasurable.
-
His melodies are subtle, but don't confuse his restraint with detachment--these songs sound deeply felt.
-
Wry, understated and occasionally heroically sorry for itself, his fourth--and best--album mixes folk, pop, country and rock to superb effect.
