Gosh, I wanted to like this more. A couple of pop gems here, but it would have made a better EP. Just too much filler, and some of the covers bomb. "Shapes of Things" is gangbusters, though.

  1. A big part of what makes A Question of Temperature so engaging is that, like Travels in the South, it's the work of a musician who isn't rejecting his past experiences but making something new of them.
  2. If Stamey had chosen to go one way or the other — straight covers or an all-out album full of originals--- A Question of Temperature would be a much more interesting album. As is it stands, nothing here really captures the imagination.
  3. Ultimately comes out a very solid if not revelatory record.
