    sure, there are some finely crafted, beautifully soothing songs on this latest effort from Jurado, I just think it gets a bit twee and mundane in the long run! Certainly preferable to the mess that was On my way to Absence, but nowhere near as good as his masterwork, Where Shall you take Me.

    This album may be Damien's best. Some of it feels like it's just following classic damien formula, but there is a twist. Songs like the title track and What Were the Chances offer something very new and very good. This album kicks ass!

    Not since "Ghost of David" has Jurado sounded so skeletal, so essential. Each aching note, each viola moan, each hollow croon seeps into the marrow of the bones like a black ether. His words are like the forbidden thoughts that make you shudder. Yet, huddled alone in the dusk of my small room--the low, phantom F of the coal train rumbling the walls this old, run-down house--Jurado's Not since "Ghost of David" has Jurado sounded so skeletal, so essential. Each aching note, each viola moan, each hollow croon seeps into the marrow of the bones like a black ether. His words are like the forbidden thoughts that make you shudder. Yet, huddled alone in the dusk of my small room--the low, phantom F of the coal train rumbling the walls this old, run-down house--Jurado's music, more than any other this cold autumn evening, makes me feel like I am home.     After Jurado's last album, I wasn't expecting much from this one, but I think it's his best yet.

    I love this album. It is, admittedly, a bit of a downer, but the songs are so achingly beautiful and the lyrics are so vivid and tell great stories. Damien Jurado has put out about eight albums now, and they're all fantastic. This one is no exception.
