Jan 16, 2013MuteMath is a band of progress. Armistice marks a time of vitality and boldness in a group of artists so vastly talented in an incredibly wide range of styles, settling with nothing less than their own idea of perfection. This album inspires me in a way no other album has; MuteMath at their finest.
-
This is essentially a thinking man's album, though, more indicative of the band's breadth than its ability to make hit singles.
-
The result is an awkward balancing act between a premature lust for accessibility and an obvious knack for the avant-garde, shirking traces of the latter in an ill-fated attempt at evolution.

Enjoying Mute Math involves disavowing the bad, and disliking them likewise involves disavowing the good. That this choice is offered at all keeps the band firmly in the camp of the interesting, at least.
