  1. The in-the-moment experience of Fernow’s music is all physical; the aftershock is almost all intellectual, the specifics of the apparent transformation provided entirely by the listener, who is left standing not so much accused as self-implicated.
  2. Its stylized, specific, and unflinching sound roars with a singular menace, at once terrifying and captivating.
  3. Unsettling and unexpectedly ravishing in equal measure, Prurient’s latest is as accomplished an album as his followers have come to expect.
  4. The Wire

This is artfully bracing listening. [Sep 2008, p.55]

Whaaaaaaat? Prurient on Metacritic? Man, I feel for all the high-score hunters who'll pick this up with no taste for noise. But anyway, Whaaaaaaat? Prurient on Metacritic? Man, I feel for all the high-score hunters who'll pick this up with no taste for noise. But anyway, I'm a huge Prurient fan, so of course this album hits a few major pleasure centers. But it's not the best place to start. Hear And Still, Wanting first. It's one of the best noise albums I've ever heard, and a good place to start with Prurient and noise as a whole. Prurient can be very rough, but almost all of his albums offer a rewarding experience, something that can't be said for all noise composers/musicians. Full Review »
