    It's not her best but not her worst too, every song has a special sound which makes you almost impossible to get bored. She is better with ballads, both lyrically and musically, up-tempo tracks of this album fail to impress listeners lyrically because they're sometimes too cheesy. Overall, it's a nice album for Avril fans but it may not impress people who barely listen to her.

    Bad Girl with Marilyn Manson is perfect. It makes me happy. Falling Fast is the most beautiful song of the album. Hello Heartache and Give You What You Like are very like it.
    I think the "worse" songs of the album are **** Summer and Sippin On Sunshine and by worse, i mean the "least" cool, that doesn't means they aren't cool at all. The rap of **** Summer is addictive and Sippin On    Bad Girl with Marilyn Manson is perfect. It makes me happy. Falling Fast is the most beautiful song of the album. Hello Heartache and Give You What You Like are very like it.

    Any album that lists Chad Kroeger as a co-writer is destined to be among the worst. Even more if you have a song like "Hello Kitty," with its cringeworthy music video.

    Each one of these songs has her unique touch, it's has variety of sounds and that makes it a very good album, since rock to poppy, and poppy to strong ballads, brilliant work!

'Summer'' is a flash-back of affairs led by a good vibe and showing what came when delivery to rap. ''Let Me Go'' explores well Lavigne vocals and Chad 's a good personality to the music. ''Give You What You'' Like is perhaps the most curious track, is a huge vulnerability as well, but at the same time, an incredible aggressiveness is, without doubt, one of the best tracks on the album, also featured the vocals. Bad Girl is completely unpretentious and weird, with the robotic vocals that make the treat even greater in this case. Hello Kitty is stupidly fun, other music not imagine anyone behind unless the same ''You Ain't See Nothing See Nothing Yet'' remember old times of their work, it is so easy to digest it and let it flow. ''Sippin 'On Sunshine'' is a great track, very fun to listen to, but the other side is no big deal. ''Hello Heartache'' is strange, in a good sense, his lalalala in the beginning, you do not know what to expect, but over time it marks its place on the album, showing completely new and touching. ''Falling Fast'' is an incredible sensitivity, Avril is crazy with a guitar, and it's no different here, is a show of sweet voice and honesty.     Definitely not the best work of Avril. There are songs that I don't like as much as others, nevertheless, as a whole this album is great. It has songs that will make you happy and songs that will make you feel sad, also funky songs that are just a good laugh, songs that are upbeat. If anything the album has wide variety.

    Many people will consider this album to be Lavigne's worst whether it is down to pathetic conspiracy theories about her passing or the fact that Lavigne has lost her roots of teen punk. However this album shows maturity. Give You What You Like is probably her most underrated single throughout all of her career. As a result this album was probably poorly received due to the poor PR.

    3° part - the rest of the album, that I confess that I loved, even though it was too pop/teen for me.

    eu realmente adorei este album, possui algumas cooposição bem maduras. está longe de ser o melhor de sua incrível carreira, é um trabalho super gostoso de se apreciar. Avril fez um trabalho bem nostálgico nessa sua era, o que agradou muito os seus fãs antigos, mesmo sendo o seu trabalho mais pop.
    eu achei um album muito agradável, e cada musica para mim foi uma chuva de nostalgia.

Highlights of the album are "Rock N Roll", "Here's to Never Growing Up", "17", "Give You What You Like", "Sippin' On Sunshine", "Falling Fast", and "Hush Hush". It's definitely too "over the place" as she said, and it confuses me a lot.     *Tripod is the name she gave to the team of songwriters/producers that contain David Hodges, Chad Kroeger and herself. They worked together for this album in 2012 and the album was going to consist of their songs for the most part, before she was sent back to studio with "hitmakers" like J-Kash or Martin Johnson .

    The album as a whole isn't bad at all, but songs like 17 (badly produced), **** Summer or Sipping on Sunshine are subpar and even filler to me. It makes wonder what it could've been if Epic Records had let her do her thing instead of making her go back to studio for "hits". I think this album is in the "middle of nowhere", it has glimpses of what direction she should (in my opinion) go towards, a more mature, less pop one, but still some of that "bratty" spirit she was famous for.

    I give it a 7 because there are some really good songs that overcome the bad ones, but it could've been easily a 6. I hope she releases a better album for the next one.    … Expand

    Can't stop laughing with her videos but Rock'n Roll is the most ingenious of them all, the false moustache! And why her dog is driving? Ha! The part of the kiss seems a bit forced to prove she is whatever, brought a lot of unnecessary criticism, but I is a really funny video and hopefully there will be more!

    Eu gosto muito da Avril, mas este álbum não me agrada muito. É bom, mas há músicas que nunca deveria ter entrado. O álbum tem sua qualidade, mas não é muita. Espero que o próximo trabalho de Avril Lavigne seja melhor,pois ela tem capacidade para isso.

Freed from the dark place she was in 2011's "Goodbye Lullaby" after breaking with her previous record label, she's now signed to Epic Records, from LA Reid, the big music executive who discovered her and supported her rise to stardom. Add to that her recent marriage with Nickelback'sAvril isn't afraid to explore many different instances of her own music on her self-titled 5th record. Freed from the dark place she was in 2011's "Goodbye Lullaby" after breaking with her previous record label, she's now signed to Epic Records, from LA Reid, the big music executive who discovered her and supported her rise to stardom. Add to that her recent marriage with Nickelback's lead singer Chad Kroeger and you get an Avril with fully recharged batteries, and more than enthusiastic about her music.

    That's definitely a good explanation for the feel good vibe that permeates "Avril Lavigne", a nostalgia-filled collection of... well, everything, because Avril goes to some highly contrasting extremes in these 13 tracks. From the alt-rock collaboration with Marilyn Manson, "Bad Girl"; to the sugar-rushed EDM "Hello Kitty"; to the mellow, sweet "Falling Fast"; to the darker acoustic guitar driven "Give You What You Like".

    It's precisely described by Avril herself as being "all over the place", and while this showcases a big versatility on her songwriting skills, it's her least concise release up to date: with so many unpredictable turns it ends up sounding more like a mixtape than an album itself.

    Some of the lyrics also were frowned upon amongst her fandom, since songs about youth and partying, while making sense in the context of this record, have become so overused in modern pop music. For a singer who rose to fame by offering accessible alternatives to the big hits while being big hits themselves (kind of the same gap Lorde is now filling with her "Pure Heroine" album), being in such a big consonance with the radio did let down some people.

    It seems, however, that Avril has never been so aware of her public image and criticism, addressing them in a subtle, lighthearted fashion in the three opening tracks: "Rock N Roll", "Here's to Never Growing Up" and "17".

    After all, "Avril Lavigne" is still a collection of strong, solid pop songs, and still retains the style and edge so characteristic of the canadian singer that, despite so avidly looking back at her decade-long career to try and put together her own identity, is just steps away from a full self-rediscovery, to propel herself to the future in big style.

    In my opinion this is the best Avril's album ever. Very funny, enjoyable to hear and a mix of rock and pop. The last two tracks are very exciting, Falling Fast is a ballad with an amazing chorus and Hush Hush is just perfect from beginning to end. There isn't a track that I dislike, one of the best of 2013.

Regardless of negative reviews, ( 'Now magazine's review was horribly empty, devoid of any meaningful track reviews) 'Avril Lavigne' succeeds in delivering her signature sound, mixed with curious experiments. The opening track, 'Rock n Roll', is nothing short of mind-blowing. Turn it up, and you will be rewarded with the kind of relentless optimism and catchiness that fans have come to expect from the franco-canadian songstress, while 'Here's to Never Growing Up' provides one of the best choruses of her career, instantly assaulting the senses with nostalgic memories of her 'Let Go' era. While on the subject of looking back, '17' takes this theme literally, cloaked with summertime happiness, providing what is sure to be 2014's summer anthem. You will have already drawn conclusions towards the Chad Kreoger-assisted 'Let Me Go', but for the most part, it provides compelling instrumentation paired with the pair of voices that have collectedly sold 95 million albums. 'Bad Girl' and 'Hello Kitty', the most dramatic changes in this album, deliver heavy beats, with power chords and EDM dub-step, respectively.More than anything else, it is these two tracks that may hint on Ms. lavigne's future releases.
    Perhaps more than anything else, the final three tracks prove that the artist that provided the landmark 'I'm With You' is here to stay. 'Hello Heartache' and 'Falling Fast' are polar opposites, yet both succeed instantaneously, aided by Avril's crisp, beautifully bittersweet lyrics.
    Unfortunately, 'Avril Lavigne' has failed to make an impact in many countries, with only 125,000 and 28,000 albums sold in the USA and the UK, respectively. Many of today's artists can manage these sales in the first week of release. Japan, however, continues to support her, with more than 161,000 copies sold thus far within that region, on the verge of Platinum certification. It does not matter about sales, if you love music, you listen to what you love, and 'Avril Lavigne' provides the kind of music many people will carry with them forever more, if only the public gave this Album a chance. It seems that Avril have decided to summarize her 11-year career, and we have received songs which sounds like they are from her past albums (17 Let Go; You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet TBDT, Hush Hush Goodbye Lullaby etc.). And Avril has recorded something new for her funny EDM track Hello Kitty, melancholic Give You What You Like, duet with Marilyn Manson Bad Girl.The best album of 2013!     "Avril Lavigne" is one of the best albuns of the year. You can explore different sounds, different styles. It's catchy and you can see that she still can make good music. I don't know why it has low scores in Metacritic. It's better than many other albuns out there

    The album is actually really showing its varieties, I hope that many songs are enjoyed in good shape. None of the music disappointed, but I felt a lot of differences as the very said. Songs like Hush Hush & Give You What You Like has a good sound, hope she knows enjoy them.

And although that may leave an impression on the wannabe punk kids in high school, it's actually fairly bland and uninteresting to anyone else that hasn't bought into Lavigne's P!nk-esque wanna rock stardom. Her musical collaboration with husband Chad Kroeger of Nickelback, David Hodges, and more only make for some decent pop rock candy, but otherwise will be forgotten by 80 percent of the Western population. It's even worse that Lavigne is in her upper twenties and is still struggling with an identity crisis is she a pop star? Is she a rock star? Her collaboration with Marilyn Manson on "Bad Girl" is about as unique as it sounds and her attempt at sounding "kawaii" on the (obviously) Japanese culture-tinged "Hello Kitty" will be on the top 25 most played on tween's iTunes for the next month or so. Let's give credits where it's due though, at least she banned pop manufacturers Max Martin and Shellback from production credits. While some of us might see that Avril Lavigne is, in fact, a talented lass, some of us also wish she'd just stay on early-2000s playlists where she currently belongs until further notice.… Expand

    Best album of the year! Avril Lavigne excels every album releases and this is no different. Letters worked well. Production magnificent David Haodges own and Avril could not give anything else. Highlights include: Give You Want You Like, Bad Girl, Hush Hush, 'Summer, You Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet and Hello Heartache.

The whole sound is more mature than other previous records like "The Best Damn Thing". It's one of the most balanced albums I have ever heard, it's dynamic, funny, sometimes beautifuly deep and slow and the most of the time easy-going, expressing really good cheer."Avril Lavigne" is an amazing album where Lavigne has chosen and composed every song carefully, specially the production part. The whole sound is more mature than other previous records like "The Best Damn Thing". It's one of the most balanced albums I have ever heard, it's dynamic, funny, sometimes beautifuly deep and slow and the most of the time easy-going, expressing really good cheer.

    On the other hand, the lyrics could be improvable in some tracks, cause sometimes they would seem repetitive in the cheery songs. "Rock N Roll" and "Bad Girl" are two of the best songs here in this fifth album.

    The emotive tracks are simply perfect. From the big ballad "Let me go" to the sensitive and sadness that "Hush hush" reflects, passing through the absolutely incredible "Give you what you like" where Avril Lavigne shows all her talent, the catchy and really well structured "Hello Heartache" and the sincere and startling "Falling Fast".

    To conclude, "Avril Lavigne" is one of the best albums of this Canadian singer. It's a great musical work that gives strength and positivity to everybody that hears it, and that's really hard to get.    … Expand

Though if feels a little "all over the place", the album is certainly one of the most genuine in Avril's career. It is easily one (if not the one) of the best records of the year. It's a shame we won't get to see itPop perfection. Avril Lavigne brings out the best of the artist who doesn't want to grow up... but she did.     This album is so good. I love all tracks. The album is really diverse as she said. There is an electronic song (Hello Kitty) & a heavy rock song (Bad Girl). My favourite are Give You What You Like & Hush Hush.

    It’s not going to be a new favorite album for anyone other than Avril Lavigne’s most ardent admirers, but a handful of great summer mixtape songs and a few other exercises in mindless pop fun are still enough to make Avril Lavigne the eponymous singer’s best record in nine years. That might not be saying much, but it's a step in the right direction.
