    So what you have is an album that's very recognisably Ed; the Steve Gullick photography, the tipsy melancholy and romance, the ballads... but without the need for too many frills it sounds complete, nine gorgeous songs that sit beautifully together.

    Ed Harcourt too seems to be dealing with a few demons of his own on Back Into The Woods, but this collection of world-weary songs also beats with a poetic heart of longing.

A few of these songs really delve into the type of songwriting which is extremely rare a brutal bitter sweet journey such as 'the man that time forgot' and 'back into the woods'. The way that I live is a song as good as many of his best, one of the best British song writers.… Expand
