    The seven-track offering spills alpha male-isms from a “money-over-bitches” point-of-view, yet remains sultry enough to appeal to the fairer sex. It’s a tenuous balance Ty walks like a seasoned tight rope artist.

    Beach House the EP succeeds where the mixtape Beach House 2 didn’t, further commercializing Ty’s sound without sacrificing the meat and potatoes of it, the foul-mouthed, sex-positivity of Ty’s quixotic bedroom capers and the production’s precarious balance between slight, house-informed ratchet music, trap and densely arranged traditional R&B sounds.

Here we find not less than thirteen guests including a DJ (Mustard). Together these artists tried their best to craft a messy and inconsistent EP. If some few verses are quotable or bring a bit more depth the whole always feels moody, shallow and lacking in rigor. Instrumentally there are some interesting artistic choices for the best and the worst like the multi-facets first song 'Work' or the sweet instruments at the end of 'Wood & Leather'. On the other side there are truly poor decisions like putting a remix (of the track 'Paranoid') right after the original song, making this EP even more repetitive than it already is. In overall the apple didn't fell far from the tree as the lyrics are almost all about money, b*tches and drugz as always in this crazy side of music industry. It is an understatement to say that a lot of this sounds like decerebrated hip-hop.… Expand
