As Lady Gaga always says: "Talented, brilliant, incredible, amazing, show stopping, spectacular, never the same, totally unique, completely not ever been done before, unafraid to reference or not reference, put it in a blender, **** on it, vomit on it, eat it, give birth to it."

Jessie's debut album is nothing short of what everyone expected it would be - incredible. It's a work of raw art that remains cohesive even as ballads, dance tracks, and heavy rap tracks are mixed in. Hey, she got an Eminem feature that I actually enjoyed for once. Love and viral disease may have come to kill us but Jessie Reyez did nothing but bless our ears.

Outstanding vocals, production, and diversity in this genre-bending introspection about the selfishness of romance and the unavoidable pain of love. Thank you for this debut project, Jessie.

Great album blend of all things. Lyrical genius.
Great vocals and mix of heartbreak and rage.the type of album which exactly industry needs in these times.trying to blend and is successful instead of using same beats.

While I appreciate the variety between songs, I think the album is a little too scattered and disjointed. Generally I was a fan of the slower songs which make up around half of the album. The other songs are a little too shallow and flashy for my taste. Most of all, I was not a fan of Jessie's voice. Her vocal style is definitely a stylistic choice that's not going to work for everyone. While I appreciate the variety between songs, I think the album is a little too scattered and disjointed. The executive production does not offer something new, even thou the audio production is good enough. I rarely heard so much music diversity in just one album. Jessie Reyez impresses us by her amazing ability to master different genres and approaches. We have here golden nuggets of R&B, Soul, Rap, Pop/Rock and even spanish ballad. Reyez' voice remains all along vivid, chasing, pure and tender. She chose to invite Eminem and 6lack on her striking debut project. Eminem totally shows his ability to respect Reyez' work and art while 6lack sounds more like usual 6lack.

This album I so exciting. I cannot stop hearing it. When I first heard Jessie Reyez her sound was a bit annoying to me in the first time ever. But now I feel like I’m obsessed with her.

I just love it so much. Like, it’s perfect. Her sound, the way she makes an acoustic song so intetesting with her voice and with her songwriting. She’s just so expressive, so talented, she takes you exactly where she wants to.

Hands down one of the best albums of the past two years. This album shows off Jessie’s writing skills as well as her melodies, cadences and flows. She shows true mastery of her craft with the lyrics from “I Do” to “Same Side”

Track order is not very good. But the raw emotion is otherworldly with Jessie’s unique voice and sound.

Uninspired choice of featuring artist aside, the artistic breadth and depth of this project speaks to Reyez’s position as an emerging, formidable artist in her own right - someone who knows exactly what a good song, let alone a good R&B song, should sound like.

Although it's all over the place, Before Love Came to Kill Us radiates conviction from front to back, and is without doubt a true representation of its creator.

What’s most satisfying about Before Love Came to Kill Us isn’t that Reyez whizzes across multiple genres—these days, who doesn’t?—but the skill she displays at each. No matter the arrangement, she powers across it at full force. ... Like many recent pop records, the album is overlong, and the extraneous material tends to be the kind of filler that Reyez is well above.
