This album creates an entire shimmering universe using that glorious pedal steel that Daniel Lanois plays like no one else. Its easy to get lost inside of this music. Belladonna has some of the most beautiful and inspiring music I have heard in years. The more you listen to it, the more this music gets under your skin and into your dreams. Heady stuff!

  1. Belladonna's tracks resemble soundtrack cues designed to capture a specific emotion that words could never quite do justice.
  2. At first blush, Lanois' music is flowery wallpaper, but on repeated listens the colorful textures sink in and evoke a hushed mysticism.
  3. It's every bit as focused and accomplished as anything in Lanois' catalog, and die-hard fans will be wanting more long after the disc winds down.
