Easily the top album of 2009 so far. From the first listen it grabbed hold of my ear and my emotions. A fantastic record musically that goes way beyond the technical and production expertise and grabs you in the gut. Definitely music you can feel. Wonderful stuff.

Mark Lanagan makes anything he touches shine - apparently.

Stunning! Deep, complex and occasionally jarring but ultimately this is beautiful music played with an underhand drama I haven't heard in a long while. Highly recommended.

  1. Soulsavers shove the mic in Mark Lanegan's hand and tell him to growl as loud as he can. He brings his friends, they all join in, and they make a lot of sense.
  2. While the two outer instrumentals are undeniably moving, this record is definitely Mark Lanegan's. There is no voice quite like his--and none that leaves the same impact.
  3. Wander no more, Lanegan. It’s clear to see that, with Soulsavers, you’ve found salvation.
