It's almost fate that they've chosen to reveal themselves to me with what is their best work to date, and also one of the most remarkable albums of this year.

The London quintet have raised their game, with something a whole lot more classy, salvaging them from the landfill indie chute.

Mixing classic rampant riffs and exploring newer matured sounds, Moss and Co. have crafted another hearty album that should satisfy even the hungriest of followers.

If Bruiser's more straightforward rock turns mostly disappoint (one notable exception: the late-game adrenaline shot "Everybody's Under Your Spell"), the album does find the band showcasing its dynamic range in new and intriguing ways.

Bruiser is an entrancing album from start to finish and a promising peek into what The Duke Spirit's future holds.

As it is, Bruiser is an album with some promise, but not much.
