  1. If Certified has one problem, it's the overabundance of features that eats up too much time.
  2. Entertainment Weekly

Revels in its own vulgarity. [23 Sep 2005, p.87]
  3. Los Angeles Times

Part sex fiend, part revolutionary and part party-starter, David Banner certifies himself a rap powerhouse with "Certified." [20 Sep 2005]
  4. Even where Certified doesn't entirely congeal, Banner gets by on personality and an ever-sharpening focus.
  5. Fully aware of his captive audience, Banner goes for broke to bring in as wide a swath as possible. The fact that tepid concessions are made becomes less a surprise and more an accepted consequence.
  6. "Certified" treads a fine line between keeping it real and selling units, but Banner treads that line very well.
  7. Certified may be a cinematic holding pattern but it’s a holding pattern in a place--both geographically and artistically--that we can’t hear enough of.
  8. Uncut

Every element of Certified is exaggerated.... It frequently makes for energised hip hop. [Jan 2006, p.105]
  9. Vibe

When at his best, Banner creates powerful American folk music. [Sep 2005, p.231]
