This album is compelling in some ways, yet drab in others. What this album lacks in revolutionary musicianship it more than makes up for in it's lyrical content. On this album, an aura of self hatred and upfront, brutal honesty. John bleeds his heart out onto the page through this album, and although I'm no huge fan of the grunge inspired riffs or the tired emo cliches this album is worthThis album is compelling in some ways, yet drab in others. It's a brutally diverse album that has something for so many rock fans. It doesn't drag across...but instead races--pummeling--through a few genres that delivers something beyond wildest expectations.

The Australian punks tone down the fury on album two, and manage to achieve so much without it.
