  1. New Musical Express (NME)
    80
At times it sounds like pastiche but when they're themselves... the 'Couture...' club are amazing. [6 Nov 2004, p.59]
  2. Under The Radar

For all their merits, Frausdots suffer from the same affliction that plagued Beachwood Sparks. They mimic the sounds of the past and do little to improve upon them. [#7]
  3. Unsurprisingly, Rademaker makes his mark when he forsakes goth-rock and embraces his jangle-pop roots.
  4. They are a lot more inspired-sounding than many of their more contemporary-sounding colleagues.
  5. Couture, Couture, Couture is an uneven album, but it does tend to wear better than some other albums by '80s-inspired bands.
  6. Mojo
    60
Revives the windswept drama of Porcupine-vintage Echo & The Bunnymen. [Dec 2004, p.99]
  7. Q Magazine
    60
Stylish nightlife pop. [Dec 2004, p.148]
  8. While some of the tracks on the album may get bogged down in their own slumped posture, tracks like "The Extremists," "A Go-See," and "Soft Light" are instantly palatable and give a take on the '80s which says, blame the decade, not the music.
  9. Rather than break new ground, Rademaker, Losielle, and friends have chosen to have some fun making a record that would have sounded fantastic 20 years ago. While maybe not quite fantastic today, somehow it manages to sound fresh enough in 2004 that you’ll be glad you gave it a chance.
  10. There's an intermittent psychedelia here that lifts even the most deadpan tracks into sunny pop territory, as sweeping, swooning So-Cal melodies erupt from its cavernous grooves.
  11. It's yet another example of talented people looking backward for inspiration and getting stuck there.

If the Earlies can make the best of year list Frausdots should be contenders this year as it is an infinetly better record with genuine If the Earlies can make the best of year list Frausdots should be contenders this year as it is an infinetly better record with genuine melodies.Brent Rademaker has made a record of charm and obvious talent , entirely undeserving of it's mid range scoring. At times it's psychedelic pop achieves real greatness and deserves far more recognition than it is currently getting.
