  • Summary: Thom Monahan produced the latest album from the San Francisco-based quartet.
Score distribution:
  1. Positive: 6 out of 8
  2. Negative: 0 out of 8
  1. The largely successful results characterize a risky proposition that in the hands of talent and artistic focus has yielded all sorts of adventurous delights.
  2. Cohesive, eclectic, expansive but never ponderous, Cream Cuts proves that Tussle don't have to do something radically different to craft music this exciting.
  3. There are plenty of polyrhythms, but not much to hum along with. A big step up from their debut, this one will be much loved by riddim heads.
  4. By most measures, Cream Cuts is Tussle’s most enjoyable and fully realized release yet, but its excellence can’t compensate for the nagging sameness that plagues most of its songs.
  5. The band's superhuman patience and dirty minimalism seem fit for longer, more sprawling works. Instead, they're stuck in limbo between catchiness and craftsmanship.
  6. Under The Radar
    60
The music is fairly straightforward break-down electronica with some fine moments, but a little too much muted trumpet. [Fall 2008, p.89]
  7. 60
The songs all come from a similar place, but a solid bass line and focused rhythm will always carry the day.
